    • PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in the efficiency of a plating operation by bottom dross and the degradation in the quality of a plating surface by gathering the bottom dross formed in a galvanizing tank to the bottom of a plating tank. CONSTITUTION:The plating tank 1 is separated by a partition wall 3 to a galvanizing bath tank 4 and a reaction treating tank 5 and an open part 7 is disposed between the bottom end of the partition wall 3 and the bottom of the plating tank 1 at the time of galvanizing a steel strip, etc. The bottom dross BD of a heavy sp. gr. is produced by the Fe eluted from the steel strip and molten Zn during the galvanizing operation of the steel strip. The bottom dross accumulates on the inclined bottom face of the bottom of the plating tank 1 and fills the open part 7, thereby forming a reaction treating vessel part 5 on the right side of the partition wall 3. Al is added to the part and the galvanizing bath in the plating tank 1 is transferred thereto by a pump 8. The Al-rich Zn bath in the reaction treating vessel 5 is diffused into the bottom dross BD and is floated as the top dross TD of a low sp. gr. which is then easily removed. The degradation in the quality of the galvanized steel sheet by integration of the bottom dross BD is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently remove foreign matter on the bath surface in a snout with this device arranged with nonoxidizing gas ejecting nozzles by specifically providing the inside wall on the snout bath with these nozzles. CONSTITUTION:A strip S passes the snout 1 disposed along its feed-in plane and advances into a plating bath B, where this strip passes along an in-bath roll 2 and is carried out perpendicularly. This device is provided with the perforated nozzles 3 for ejecting gaseous N2 in both side directions of the fed-in strip S over the entire width of the strip S downward by providing the nozzles with a gradient of a prescribed angle theta1 with the strip S. The gases ejected out of the nozzles 3 form the gaseous flow G1 ejected in the pass direction of the strip. These gases flow on the plating bath surface along both surfaces of the strip S, and further, flow toward the direction opposite to the strip S on the bath surface. Consequently, the foreign matter on the bath surface within the snout suspended on the bath surface is moved to the wall side of the snout and is parted from the point where the strip and S are fed in. The part near the contact point of the strip S and the bath is thus cleaned.

    • PURPOSE:To simplify the control of aluminum addition in preventing the generation of dross flaws in hot dip galvanizing to reduce dross to zinc by adding aluminum into the dross and to eliminate the influence of the addition of the aluminum to the galvanizing bath. CONSTITUTION:This continuous hot dip galvanizing method comprises dividing a galvanizing bath cell 1 by a partition wall 3 opened in the lower part to a plating cell part 4 and a reaction cell part 5, forming the base of this plating cell part 4 to a slope downgrading toward this reaction cell part 5 and adding the aluminum to the dross in this reaction cell, thereby removing the dross in the galvanizing bath. The open part in the lower part of the partition wall 3 is packed and sealed by the dross, by which the diffusion of the aluminum to the galvanizing bath vessel is prevented. As a result, the restriction of maintaining the amt. of the aluminum to be added to the reaction chamber in the equil. state at all times is eliminated. The addition of the large amt. of the aluminum is thus possible, insofar as the sealing by the bottom dross is maintained. The adjustment of the amt. of the addition is thus facilitated.

    • PURPOSE:To continuously supply a highly clean plating soln. by introducing a plating soln. discharged from a plating tank into an aq. sob. contg. metallic salts and passing the soln. alternately through two or more impurity removing devices packed with activated carbon. CONSTITUTION:Metallic Zn and a metallic salt such as NiSO4 are dissolved in a tank 1, and a plating soln. discharged from a plating tank and contg. impurities is introduced into the prepared soln. The soln. is circulated successively through a buffer tank 2, an impurity removing device 3, a main tank 4 and the buffer tank 2 and purified. The purified plating soln. is sent to a plating tank 5. Two or more impurity removing devices 3 are provided and alternately used. The device 3 is packed with activated carbon, a heater is furnished, an inert gas is supplied, and the impurties in the plating soln. are effectively removed. The time and labor to exchange the activated carbon are saved since two or more devices 3 are used. The activated carbon having adsorbed impurities is heated in an inert gas atmosphere, and the adsorbed impurities are discharged into the gas.
