    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small lump of coke which is used, as an alternative to part of usual coke, in a blast furnace so as to promote a reduction reaction, the coke being mixed with a large amount of coal which is low in quality.SOLUTION: When formed coal which is formed by using mixed coal whose whole expansion coefficient is at most 20% is subjected to dry distillation in a vertical furnace to produce coke, a temperature-raising rate at the time, at which the central temperature Tc, in dry distillation, of the formed coal is 200-700°C, is determined according to the VM value of the mixed coal as the raw material: (1) the rate is at least T°C/min, which is defined by the formula: T=0.0001225×Tc2-0.1418×Tc+46.18 in case that the VM value is 34.5% or smaller; and (2) the rate is 1°C/min or larger when the VM value is larger than 34.5%.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a furnace wall from being damaged, and the like, at the time of coke extrusion by estimating the extrusion load at the time of having a coke cake passing through a rugged part present at the furnace wall including a distillation defect part in a chamber type coke oven.
      SOLUTION: An extrusion load measuring test is carried out by having coke cakes for a test distilled at various coal internal temperatures passing through rugged parts of various sizes. The relationship (a) between the coal internal temperature T and the apparent bulk modulus K is calculated. The relationship (b) between the deviation degree W of the force ΔF necessary for passage of the projected part in the case of distillation at the coal internal temperature T and the apparent bulk modulus K at the time of distillation at a normal coal internal temperature is calculated. The coal internal temperature at each position in the furnace longitudinal direction is estimated from the actual measurement temperature of the coke oven combustion chamber. The extrusion force at the time of passage of the coke cake by the rugged part is estimated from the coal internal temperature and the actual measurement value of the furnace wall rugged part, and the relationships (a) and (b) to be determined whether the estimated extrusion load at the time of coke extrusion is lower than a reference value in the coke oven operation, and the coke is extruded from a distillation chamber by a distillation time shorter then a reference value.

Further, the suppression of the amount of the stuck carbon can be confirmed by measuring the amount of carbon stuck to a piece of a brick 10 inserted from a first loading port 9, a third loading port 8 and a 5th loading port 7 into the space at the top of the oven 5 and from the side surface of the solid elevated tube 2 into the base part 11 of the elevated tube together with a thermometer 6.
