    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a control technique for distributing cast slabs suitably conforming to the product standard to obtain the min. quantity of the cast slabs having out of the product standard and the max. yield at the completing time of the casting, in a billet continuous caster having multi-strands. SOLUTION: In the multi-strand system billet continuous casting equipment, the decision of the whole casting length from the starting to the completing of the casting in each strand is executed as the following calculations. A definite casting length is calculated by accumulating the standard length of the products from the cutting completing position of the cast slab in each strand to the nearest time of the molten steel surface in a mold. Successively, the molten steel quantity in a tundish is distributed into each strand as the multiple numbers of the standard length of the product and calculated by adding to the definite casting length. The distribution into each strand is executed by adding the standard length of the product in order from the preceding strand at the point of calculating time until the remaining molten steel quantity in the tundish becomes zero. Then, in the case of stopping the casting at out of the schedule or at the completing time of the casting, the definite casting length and the distribution are recalculated.

Thereafter, the pressures of gas and liquid in a piping after setting the flow rate control system when the nozzle spouts, are beforehand measured, and after setting this facility at the construction-site, the pressures of the gas and the liquid in the piping are measured, and these pressures and the pressures of the gas and the liquid in the off-line, are compared.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inserting a continuously casting dummy bar with which various kinds of measurements are possible not only in the central part in the width direction of a continuous casting machine but also in a wide range in the width direction without influencing production efficiency, and also the productive efficiency is not reduced, and to provide a dummy bar used therefor.
      SOLUTION: In the method for inserting a dummy bar for continuous casting, a dummy bar provided with a measuring device for measuring the intervals of rolls or the like in a continuous casting machine is inserted into continuous casting equipment in which a plate on the short side of a mold is adjustable in the width direction in the mold. The method comprises following procedures: a stage (1) wherein the plate on the short side is arranged at a width larger than that of the measuring device; a stage (2) wherein the dummy bar is inserted from the upper part; a stage (3) wherein, when the measuring device detects the passage of the lower end of the mold, the movement of the plate on the short side in the mold is started toward a prescribed position on the start of the casting; and a stage (4) wherein, when a dummy bar head reaches a prescribed position in the mold, the dummy bar is stopped.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method and continuous casting equipment for steel where, when a continuously cast slab of steel having high surface crack sensitivity is produced by a curved type and vertical bending type continuous casting machine having a straightening band, the cracks of a slab surface are prevented, and the slab having excellent surface properties is produced.
      SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for steel having a straightening band, a secondary cooling apparatus capable of controlling the straightening band region independently is provided, the quantity of cooling water in the secondary cooling of the straightening band is reduced or is made zero, and the surface layer of the slab is recuperated, thus the surface of the slab is heated-up at the straightening band, so as to prevent the cracks in the surface of the slab. The temperature rising rate is preferably controlled to ≥30°C/min on the average in the straightening band. In the secondary cooling apparatus for cooling the straightening band, the starting side in the cooling range is preferably controlled within 2.0 m in the upstream from the final straightening point.
