    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welded titanium pipe and its manufacturing method by which fatigue property is improved while maintaining the formability in a weld zone and the production of fretting corrosion fatigue which is caused on the surface of a base material is suppressed.
      SOLUTION: This is a welded titanium pipe in which the nitrogen content in the interior of the weld zone is higher than that in the interior of the base material by 0.003 - 0.030 mass% and which has titanium nitride on the surface of the base material part. The manufacturing method includes: forming a sheet or a strip into tubular shape after applying specified nitriding to the sheet or the strip-like titanium used for manufacturing the pipe by carrying out nitriding and heat treatment by heating it in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere; and shielding the butted part with gaseous argon and carrying out welding. Furthermore, the heat treatment for mild nitriding or mild oxidation is carried out by heating the welded pipe in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere or an oxidizing atmosphere.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium welded pipe for a fretting fatigue member which can improve fatigue properties while maintaining formability of welded parts and can suppress the occurrence of fretting fatigue that occurs on the surface of a base metal, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The titanium welded pipe for the fretting fatigue resistant member has a higher nitrogen concentration by 0.003 to 0.030% by mass in the interior portion of the welded part than that in the interior part of the base metal, and has titanium nitride on the surface of the base metal on which a surface layer remains being unremoved after cold rolling. The method for manufacturing the titanium welded pipe includes: heating a titanium sheet or strip which is used in pipe-making and has the surface layer remaining unremoved after cold rolling, in a nitrogen gas atmosphere for nitriding heat treatment to perform predetermined nitriding; forming the sheet or strip into a tubular shape; shielding the abutted portion with an argon gas; and performing welding without use of a hot charge. The welded pipe may be heated in a nitrogen gas atmosphere or an oxidation atmosphere for light nitriding or light oxidation.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method by which tube-making by high-speed welding is made possible by preventing the generation of fine crack on the surface of weld bead on the inside surface of a tube when making the tube of metal having large springback by continuous welding.
      SOLUTION: In the case the tube is continuously made by performing the butt welding of both end faces of a hoop by using squeezing rolls while rounding a belt-like hoop of the metal having large springback into a cylindrical shape by roll forming, first, continuous tack welding is performed by using a first welding torch in the vicinity of a squeezing point under the heat-input conditions that penetration bead is not formed and, successively, normal welding is performed by using the second welding torch from above the tack-welding part under the heat-input conditions that the penetration bead is formed on the downstream side of the position where the solidification of the tack-welding part is completed. Further, following the normal welding, a decorative build-up welding is performed from above the bead of the normal welding by using the third welding torch or, as necessary, the fourth welding torch.
