摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a tar acid useful as a raw material for a resin, etc., in high purity, from a tar oil, by bringing a tar acid salt or a crude tar acid into contact with a gas containing oxygen as a specific temperature, and distilling the crude tar acid under reduced pressure in a distillation column at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:A tar light oil given by the distillation of coal tar or a tar oil, e.g. carbor oil, is extracted with an aqueous alkaline, e.g. caustic soda, to prepare a tar acid salt, and the resultant salt is decomposed with an acidic substance, e.g. gaseous carbon dioxide or sulfuric acid, to prepare a crude tar acid. In the process, the tar acid salt or crude tar acid is brought into contact with a gas containing oxygen at 40-100 deg.C, preferably at 60-90 deg.C. The crude tar acid thus obtained is distilled under reduced pressure in a distillation column in which the highest temperature, i.e. bottom temperature, is lower than 200 deg.C to give a tar acid containing small amounts of impurities, e.g. a sulphur compound, and having improved smell, etc., e.g. phenol, a cresol or a xylenol.

The aqueous solution of recovered tar acids is fed to a tar acids recovering system 8 so as to recover the tar acid 12 and at least a part of remained aqueous solution after tar acids recovering is used as a diluent for the recovered aqueous alkali solution 17 generated also by electrolysis so as to adjust the concentration of the solution and another part of the remained aqueous solution is at least partially used as the alkali aqueous solution for extraction.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce phenols and tar acids stably for a long time while avoiding the film degradation in separating and recovering phenols and an alkali hydroxide solution from an aqueous phenolate solution with an ion-exchange membrane electric membrane dialysis apparatus. SOLUTION: An electric membrane dialysis apparatus is used which has four chambers A-D formed by arranging two cationic membranes 23, 24 and an anionic membrane 25 between at least two bipolar membranes 21, 22 arranged between an anode 26 and a cathode 27. Electric dialysis is conducted by causing a phenolate solution to flow into chamber B and a recovered alkali solution to flow into chamber C, thus generating phenols in chamber B and an alkali hydroxide in chamber C. An aqueous phenol solution generated in chamber B is circulated after the recovery of the phenols, and an aqueous alkali hydroxide solution generated in chamber C is circulated to minimize the amount of discharged water. Into chambers A and D in contact with the bipolar membranes, a clean aqueous acid or alkali solution is caused to flow to extend the membrane life.

摘要： PURPOSE:Waste liquid treatment equipment using dead-free, active sludge by stacking propagating active sludge in settling tank. CONSTITUTION:Decaying waste liquid is fed from pipe 1, passed through the waste liquid tank 4 to the primary exposing tank 9 to be treated. The liquid is next fed to the air bubble type, main air exposing tank 13 after treatment passed to the settling tank 15 where flock formed coagulated active sludge is separated from treating liquid. The flocked active sludge is likely to be deposited on the middle or slanted bottom wall to be killed due to insufficient oxygen. To prevent this, the tank 15 is provided at the middle or bottom with inlet air lift pipe 21 and at the top with outlet lift pipe 21. Molecular oxygen is supplied to the pipe 21 inlet from the blower 11 and pipe 20. Thus air lift transfers active sludge to the upper part 23 of tank 15, effecting good contact with oxygen.

The supernatant is fed to the main air exposing tank 13 where molecular oxygen is bubbled from the bottom from the blower 11 and pipe 14. The waste liquid is fed from the tank 13 to the settling tank 15, from which settled active sludge is returned through pipe 19 to the main air exposing tank 13 by molecular oxygen air lift fed from the pipe 18 and the blower 11.
