摘要： An optical active matrix display uses a light beam through a plurality of lightguide paths in a transparent substrate for switching signals to display an image. The display includes end surfaces of the lightguide paths appearing on one side surface of the transparent substrate. A light source issues at least one light beam. A rotating polygon mirror scans the direction of the light beam. An optical system changes an angle of the light beam reflected by the rotating polygon mirror so that the light beam is incident at the end surface of the lightguide paths irrespective of the scanning direction. The optical system subjects the principal rays of the light beam to a substantially constant angle with respect to the end surfaces of the lightguide paths.

摘要： PURPOSE:To easily input an address light to each optical waveguide of optical active matrix, to constitute the device so that the number of parts is extremely few and manufacturing cost is inexpensive, not to be affected so much by mechanical variation, and to improve stability of operation. CONSTITUTION:Many optical waveguides of an optical waveguide array substrate 10 are formed so that their end planes can be seen through a transparent substrate. The direction of a light beam emitted from a laser optical system 20 is varied by a rotary polygon mirror 22, an angle of a reflected light beam is varied by a telecentric optical system 28 consisting of a toric lens, the light beam is made incident on an end plane of the light waveguide independently of the scanning direction. A lens array 30 in which convex lenses 32 are arranged is preferably provided at positions corresponding to each light waveguide at end planes of light waveguides in optical active matrix. Interlace scanning also can be performed by using the lens array provided with lens groups of an odd side and an even side at the upper and the lower part and two light beams.

摘要： The light scan type display device includes a display medium laid between two opposed substrates, which is driven in response to a light signal. One of the substrates has plural light waveguides provided in parallel and for transmitting a light signal, plural signal electrodes ranged in parallel and orthogonally with the light waveguides and for transmitting a light signal, pixel electrodes formed in a matrix manner, and light switching elements formed of a photoconductive material at crosspoints between the signal electrodes and the light waveguides in a manner to abut on the signal electrodes and the pixel electrodes. Further, the one substrate includes micro lenses for condensing ambient light to pixel openings. The micro lenses serve to condense the light from the backlight onto the pixels for prevent intrusion of any other light except the light scan signal into the switching element.
