摘要： In an alumina honeycomb structural body according to a first aspect of the invention and another invention relating it, the alumina honeycomb structural body is constructed in such a manner that alumina is a main ingredient and an amount of impurities is limited to not greater than 2 weight %. Moreover, in an alumina honeycomb structural body according to a second aspect of the invention and another invention relating it, the alumina honeycomb structural body is constructed in such a manner that an amount of alumina as a main ingredient is limited to not less than 98 weight % ; an amount of Na containing compound is limited to 0.02 weight % -1.0 weight % of Na2O when converting it into oxide; and remainder is impurities.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alumina honeycomb structural body, capable of effecting heat exchange efficiently even under corrosive atmosphere, the manufacturing method of the same and a honeycomb heat storage body employing the same. SOLUTION: The alumina honeycomb structural body 1 is so constituted, that the weight of impurities is not more than 2 wt.%, and the principal constituent of the same is alumina. The alumina honeycomb structural body 1 is manufactured by a method, where 97-70 wt.% of α alumina, 3-30 wt.% of aluminum hydroxide, forming assistant and solvent are mixed to plasticize and the mixture is calcined after extrusion forming to obtain the principal crystal phase of αalumina. Further, the honeycomb heat storage body 11 of this invention is provided with at least one piece of the alumina honeycomb structural body 1 and is constituted, so as to effect heat exchange by passing alternately heating gas and the gas to be heated.

The alumina honeycomb structural body, containing Na of this invention is manufactured by a method, where 97-70 wt.% of α alumina, 3-30 wt.% of aluminum hydrate, necessary amount of sodium source, forming assistant and solvent are plasticized by mixing and is calcined after extrusion molding. Further, the honeycomb heat storage body of this invention is provided with at least one piece of the alumina honeycomb structural body containing Na and is constituted, so as to effect heat exchange by passing alternately heating gas and the gas to be heated.

摘要： An exhaust gas-treating process by capturing particulates in exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine with use of a honeycomb structural filter, the process including the steps of: (1) capturing the particulates contained in the exhaust gas by passing the exhaust gas through the filter; (2) stopping flow of the exhaust gas through the filter and transferring the captured particulates to a location remote from and outside an exhaust line by flowing the particulates captured by the filter in a direction reverse to a flowing direction of the exhaust gas; and (3) burning the particulates and discharging a burnt matter outside. The filter preferably has a honeycomb structural body and second sealed portions in first and second rows at opposite ends of the honeycomb structural body, respectively. Gas stream-introducing channels are each provided near and upstream of said first sealed portions in a respective one of said first rows and penetrating inner walls in the respective one of said first rows, while each of the gas stream-introducing channels penetrates an outer peripheral wall of the honeycomb structural body at at least one of opposite ends thereof.
