    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unify the amount of generating gas in fluidized bed type incinerating furnace, distillation furnace and the like of wastes by a method wherein the wastes are compressed with a pressure higher than a specified value when the wastes are supplied. SOLUTION: A wastes gasifying and melting furnace is provided with a main tuyere, an auxiliary tuyere and a three-stage tuyere to ventilate air, provided with oxygen, through the main tuyere to melt the wastes, and ventilate air, provided with steam, through the auxiliary tuyere to effect drying and pyrolysis of the wastes, deposited in the furnace, while fluidizing them. The charging device for the wastes compresses the wastes into two directions to make a column type waste block. In this case, the charged wastes are reserved in a chamber 11 and are compressed by a piston 13 into a direction orthogonal to the charging direction of the same so as to obtain a column type block. Further, the wastes, compressed so as to be a column type block, is compressed again by another piston 14 into the charging direction of the column type waste block. The compressing pressures are preferable to be 25 kg/cm . According to this method, the sudden generation of gas in a furnace can be restrained and the amount of generating gas can be made constant.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce heavy metals in treated fly ash at low treating cost by adding water for making chloride in fly ash into slurry and solution of chloride to fly ash containing heavy metals to slurrify them, subjecting the slurry to liquid removing treatment and then subjecting the fly ash to heavy metal stabilizing treatment. SOLUTION: In the case alkali fly ash collected when hydrogen chloride in waste gas is removed is subjected to detoxicating treatment in trash incineration equipment of the like, first in an extraction process 10, water for dissolving soluble chloride in the alkali fly ash to form a chloride solution and an extract containing chloride are added to the alkali fly ash and they are agitated and mixed to prepare a slurry. While the slurry is agitated, heavy metals in the alkali fly ash are extracted to a solution in the slurry and thereafter, the slurry is sent to a liquid removing process 11, where it is subjected to liquid removing treatment by a filter. Next in a heavy metal stabilizing process 12, a sulfidizing agent or a liquid chelating agent is added to the liquid removed fly ash to make heavy metals remaining in the liquid removed fly ash insoluble.
