    • An apparatus such as a camera, etc. incorporates at least first and second ultrasonic wave actuators driven at predetermined frequencies for driving the apparatus. The first and second ultrasonic wave actuators are drive-controlled at different frequencies by first (10) and second (12) actuator drive portions controlled by an apparatus control portion. The first and second ultrasonic wave actuators are constructed to satisfy a relationship such as |f1 - f2| > 4000, where f1 (Hz) is the drive frequency of the first ultrasonic wave actuator, and f2 (Hz) is the drive frequency of the second ultrasonic wave actuator. Prevented thus are drawbacks caused when simultaneously driving the plurality of ultrasonic wave actuators for driving the apparatus, i.e., a resonance in an apparatus structural body and a resultant "beat" phenomenon.

    • A reliable driving control is obtained without any special structure for a corrective optical system for correcting an image deviation resulting from vibrations or shake or unsteady motions caused by a manual holding.
      A corrective optical system is movably supported in a plane rectangular to the optical axis. There are provided driving means for driving this system and a movable frame operated by this driving means to give a motion accompanying rotational component when it is driven. An angle velocimeter is fixed to this movable frame for detecting its angle variations with respect to the inertial system and for controlling the operation of the driving means. The shifting amount D' for correcting an image deviation d (= f · ϑ) (variation angle ϑ, focal length f) is D' = D/A (where A = a proportional coefficient and D = an image shifting amount). In response thereto, the movable member is controlled to make its angle variation -ϑ with respect to the optical system. This performs the correction of an image deviation.
