摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain hydroxyapatite whiskers at a low cost without producing monetite as a by-product by heating a specified blend at a specified temp. SOLUTION: A calcium salt or calcium hydroxide is blended with a phosphate, phosphoric acid or a compd. of phosphoric acid and calcium so that the molar ratio of calcium to phosphorus is regulated to 10-1 and the resultant blended is dissolved in water, adjusted to pH4.0-6.0 in a buffer soln. And heated at the b.p. or below to obtain the objective hydroxyapatite whiskers. Since in the case of an excessively low pH, monetite is formed is place of hydroxyapatite whiskers, it is very important to maintain a higher pH than a pH range in which monetite is fomred during reaction. When hydroxyapatite or hydroxyapatite whiskers are synthesized from an aq. soln. contg. calcium and phosphoric acid, reaction that takes place in the soln. is repeated by the chemical equilibrium formula.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the isotropy and uniformity of physical properties, heat resistance and strength by heating a formed compact of an aluminum borate whisker-forming raw material mixture and pressing a metal into void parts of the resultant porous ceramics having the produced aluminum borate whiskers therein. SOLUTION: An aluminum compound is mixed with a boron compound so as to provide 9:(2-6) molar ratio of Al2 O3 :B2 O3 and 0.1-10wt.% (expressed in terms of NiO) nickel compound is then added to the resultant mixture to afford an aluminum borate whisker-forming raw material mixture, which is then compression formed to provide a formed compact. The resultant compact is subsequently heated at 1100-1400 deg.C in air to afford porous ceramics having fine communicating voids of mutually bonded aluminum borate whiskers and 50-95% void ratio. The prepared ceramics are preheated and a metal for a matrix in a molten state is pressed into the void parts. The resultant ceramics are then cooled to solidify the metal.
