摘要： The invention relates to a method for drying sensitive articles, essentially textiles made of wool, which are to be dried in the washing drum (3) of a clothes dryer (2) using a computer program. According to known methods for protecting sensitive articles to be dried during a drying program, the articles to be dried are introduced into a protective device (1) which, filled with the articles to be dried, is then inserted into the washing drum (3) before the start of the drying program. In order to prevent damage to the sensitive articles to be dried whenever the protective device (1) is not used, a warning signal is generated prior to the start of the drying program when the protective device (1) containing the sensitive articles to be dried is not properly fixed to the clothes dryer (2).

Lenses.-With the object of securing uniform definition over a photographic plate, an auxiliary lens is introduced laterally to the objective to shift its focus axially during the time of exposure. The auxiliary lens 4 is mounted on an axis 5 fitted with a short arm which is acted upon by a pneumatic push 9 to move the lens 4 into position before the objective 3. The lens 4 may be of coloured glass to act as a colour-screen ; it may also be operated automatically and simultaneously with the shutter. Specification No. 1594, A.D. 1905, is referred to.

The lens mount is made in two parts 2, 3, which telescope into one another. Between these parts, in an annular chamber in the casing, is placed a spring 4, which being initially compressed or extended, acts to alter the distance between the lens components when set free by the release of a detent 6, engaging with a rack 7 and operated by a pneumatic ball &c. In a modification, a fluid is forced into or exhausted from an annular chamber to alter the distance between the components.
