    • A valve timing adjusting apparatus is designed for quickly starting an engine at the intermediate position between the most retarded angle and the most advanced angle and for preventing hammering sound. A top end surface of a stopper piston receives a retard hydraulic pressure, and an annular surface of a large diameter sliding portion receives the retard hydraulic pressure from a hydraulic chamber. The retard hydraulic pressure applied to the top end surface and the annular surface acts in the direction to pull out the stopper piston from a fitting bore. An annular surface of the large diameter sliding portion receives an advance hydraulic pressure when an advance hydraulic chamber is communicated to a hydraulic chamber. The hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic chamber acts as a force for pushing the stopper piston in a fitting member. When the through hole is closed by the large diameter sliding portion, the hydraulic chamber acts as a damper chamber.

    • A variable valve timing control apparatus is constructed so as to supply hydraulic pressure to an unlocking chamber for unlocking a lock pin only from a retarding chamber. In cranking an engine, a hydraulic pressure control valve is controlled so as to supply the hydraulic pressure only to an advancing chamber and so as not to apply the hydraulic pressure to the unlocking chamber. Thereby, the lock pin is prevented from being unlocked in cranking the engine in advance. After that, control current of a solenoid of the hydraulic pressure control valve is switched to hold current for holding the position of the camshaft phase at the point of time when a time necessary for enabling to supply the hydraulic pressure sufficient to control the camshaft phase from the completion of cranking to supply the hydraulic pressure equally to the both advancing and retarding chambers. Thereby, the hydraulic pressure is supplied also to the unlocking chamber from the retarding chamber and the lock pin is unlocked.

    • A stopper piston is fitted into a fitting hole when a vane rotor is located at an approximately intermediate position between a most retard position and a most advance position with respect to a shoe housing. When the stopper piston is fitted into the fitting hole, a relative rotation of the vane rotor with respect to the shoe housing is restrained. When the stopper piston rotates to an advance side with respect to the shoe housing over the intermediate position at which the stopper piston is fitted into the fitting hole, a damper chamber communicates with an advance oil pressure chamber through a through hole, an oil passage and a recess space. When the vane rotor rotates to a retard side including the intermediate position, the damper chamber is sealed hermetically, and therefore the moving speed of the stopper piston toward the fitting hole decreases.

    • The objective of the present invention is to provide a charged particle beam device such that a tip part can be effectually maintained in a clean state, while the frequency of valve body replacements is also reduced. To achieve the objective, a charged particle beam device is offered, comprising: a partition that is positioned between a charged particle source-side vacuum space and a specimen stage-side vacuum space, said partition further comprising an opening for a charged particle beam to pass through; a driver mechanism that moves a shutter member between a first location within the optical axis of the charged particle beam and a second location outside the optical axis of the charged particle beam; and a control device that controls the driver mechanism. The first location is a location wherein the shutter member is distanced from the partition, and the control device carries out a control that opens a valve between the specimen chamber and the exchange chamber when the shutter member is in a state of being located in the first location.
