    • A method and apparatus is disclosed for affixing heads (14) to headless fasteners (13) to form webs (11) thereof, wherein the headless fasteners (13) are equally spaced apart a given spacing. The web of headless fasteners (13) is conveyed to and disposed so that each of a first set of headless fasteners is disposed in an aligned relationship to corresponding ones of a plurality of "n" head affixing devices (90). The head affixing devices (90) are spaced from each other a distance equal to the product of the given spacing and ("n" ± 1). The plurality of head affixing devices (90) are actuated to fasten "n" heads (14) to their aligned fasteners (13) of the web. Thereafter, the web (11) is moved with respect to the plurality of "n" head affixing devices (90) a distance equal to the product of "n" and the given spacing to align each of a second, different set of fasteners (13) of the web (11) to corresponding ones of the plurality of "n" head affixing devices (90). The plurality of the head affixing devices (90) are actuated for a time period during which each of the present set of headless fasteners (13) is maintained in the aligned relationship with its corresponding one head affixing device (90). The web is repeatedly moved and the "n" welding devices (90) are repeatedly actuated until a head (14) is affixed to each headless fastener (13) of the web (11).

    • A nose assembly (10) of a fastener driving tool is disclosed for facilitating the removal of any jammed fasteners (23), which become lodged in the nose assembly (10). The nose assembly (10) has a front (15) and back (14) plate pivotally connected to define therebetween a drive track (18). The back plate (14) is secured to a housing structure (11) adapted to drive a fastener (23a) from a drive track (18) into a workpiece. A magazine assembly (19) for storing a strip of the fasteners (23) is adapted to feed the leading fastener (23a) into the drive track (18). In its operative position, the leading fastener (23a) within the magazine assembly (19) is positioned in the drive track (18) abuting the front plate (15). To remove any jammed fastener, the front plate (15) is pivoted to an inoperative position to expose the jammed fastener in the drive track (18) for easy removal.
