    • A liquid applicator includes: an applicator portion provided at the front end of a barrel; a barrel joint having an approximately cylindrical shape, fitted into the rear of the barrel; and a pushing mechanism having a piston for pushing the liquid, accommodated inside the barrel joint. In this pushing mechanism, as a rotary handle is turned, a threaded shaft together with a delivering member rotates so as to move itself forwards by means of screw engagement with a threaded piece fixed to the barrel joint and thereby move the piston in the same direction. A liquid contained in front of the piston is delivered toward the applicator portion, thus the applicator portion is impregnated with the liquid.

    • A variable capacity type compressor in which a control element is mounted in one of side blocks formed with inlet ports for rotation about its own axis in opposite circumferential directions between a first extreme position providing the maximum capacity of the compressor, and a second extreme position providing the minimum capacity of the compressor, to vary the compression starting timing. The control element has cut-out portions through which compression medium is drawn into compression spaces, of which one upstream end with respect to the direction of rotor rotation determines the compression starting timing in cooperation with vanes passing same. The cut-out portion is formed of first and second portions circumferentially arranged. At least one recess is formed in an end face of the cam ring facing the control element, which opens in the camming inner peripheral surface thereof and circumferentially extends from a circumferential location at which a suction stroke is started in a compression space within the cylinder or from a point proximate thereto, toward a downstream side with respect to the direction of rotor rotation. The recess is disposed such that when the control element is in the second extreme position, the recess has a downstream end thereof with respect to the direction of rotor rotation positioned downstream of another end of the cut-out portion. The cut-out portion may further be formed with a third portion circumferentially extending continuously from the second portion toward an upstream side with respect to the direction of rotor rotation.

    • A variable capacity vane compressor in which one of front and rear side blocks has at least one inlet port divided into first and second portions, and a control element has at least one pressure-receiving protuberance dividing a space formed in the one side block into first and second pressure chambers, wherein the control element angularly moves in response to a differential pressure between the first and second pressure chambers, to vary the opening angle of the second portion of the at least one inlet port. A torsion coiled spring is fitted around a hub of the one side block for biasing the control element in a circumferential direction of increasing the opening angle of the second portion of the inlet port. The torsion coiled spring has an end thereof provided with a first engaging portion engaging a first retaining device provided in the control element, and another end thereof provided with a second engaging portion engaging a second retaining device provided in the hub, through a holding device. The second engaging portion of the spring comprises a first portion and a second portion extending at a predetermined angle with respect to the first portion and forming a tip, thus presenting a bent portion together with the first portion. The second retaining device of the hub comprises a first retaining portion engaging the first portion of the second engaging portion of the spring, and a second retaining portion extending at a predetermined angle with respect to the first retaining portion and engaging the second portion of the second engaging portion of the spring.
