    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene terephthalate resin composition capable of obtaining blow-molded containers with high heat resistance and transparency in high productivity, and to provide such a blow-molded container using the above resin composition. SOLUTION: The polyethylene terephthalate resin composition comprises the components (A) and (B) described below, wherein the component (B) is contained at 0.1-10,000 ppb in the composition. The component (A) is a polyethylene terephthalate component consisting maily of recurring units derived from dicarboxylic acid(s) comprising terephthalic acid and/or its ester-forming derivative and diol(s) comprising ethylene glycol and/or its ester-forming derivative, wherein the proportion of diethylene glycol units is 0.5-2.0 wt.%. The component (B) is an ethylene-based polymer composition comprising (a) polyethylene and/or (b) an ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer, being greater than 45 in Shore D hardness.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin in which the amount of a cyclic trimer or acetaldehyde produced during molding is small; corrosion of a molding and a polymerization apparatus is suppressed; and the reduction in quality due to inclusion of metal species is small.
      SOLUTION: There is provided a polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.60 dl/g or more and containing a cyclic trimer (CT) in an amount of 0.55 wt% or less. When molded to a preform at a molding temperature of 280°C, the polyethylene terephthalate satisfies Formulas 1 and 2: ΔCT≤0.10 wt% (Formula 1), and Fe≤1.0 ppm (Formula 2), wherein ΔCT denotes the increased amount of the cyclic trimer contained in the polyethylene terephthalate during the molding; and Fe denotes the weight of the iron atom contained in the polyethylene terephthalate after molding.

    • A process for producing a polyethylene terephthalate in which the amount of the oligomers, such as cyclic trimer etc., is lower and which causes metal mold staining to occur difficultly. The process comprises an esterification stage in which dicarboxylic acids including mainly terephthalic acid or ester-forming derivatives of such acids are esterified with glycols including mainly ethylene glycol or with ester-forming derivatives of such glycols; a liquid phase polycondensation stage in which the esterified product obtained in the esterification stage is subjected to a polycondensation in a liquid phase containing a polycondensation catalyst and having a content of an alkaline solubilizing agent of 0.4 mole or less per mole of the polycondensation catalyst with heating; a solid phase polycondensation stage in which the polycondensation product obtained in the liquid phase polycondensation stage is heated at a temperature below the melting point of the product in an inert atmosphere; and an aqua-treatment stage in which the polycondensation catalyst is deactivated by contacting the polycondensation product obtained in the solid phase polycondensation stage with water. The polyethylene terephthalate obtained by this process is suitable as the material for containers to be charged with drinks.
