      SOLUTION: The vertical decanter type centrifugal separator 10 is equipped with a rotary bowl 11 having a solid discharge port, a screw conveyor 12 which rotates via a differential speed device 18 and with a speed difference from the rotary bowl 11, a feed pipe 15 for feeding a raw liquid slurry, a flow-dividing rib plate 16 installed in the radial direction in the rotary bowl 11 for dividing the raw liquid slurry, a main motor 17 for rotating the rotary bowl 11 at a high speed, a differential speed motor 19 rotated with a speed difference from the number of rotations of the main motor 17, and the differential speed device 18. In the centrifugal separator, the main motor 17 and the differential speed motor 19 are arranged below the differential speed device 18; and a high-speed shaft of the differential speed device 18 for driving the rotary bowl 11 and a low-speed shaft for driving the screw conveyor 12 are arranged at the same shaft and driven in the same direction.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertically standing decanter-like centrifuge comprising a washing apparatus capable of shortening the time to be taken for washing work and washing evaluation. SOLUTION: The vertically standing decanter-like centrifuge comprises a rotation bowl 4, a screw conveyer 2 coaxially installed in the rotation bowl 4 and rotating with a slight difference of the speed from that of the rotation bowl 4, a separate rib plate 3 installed continuously from the lower end part of a raw material slurry supply pipe 1 for supplying a raw material slurry to a cylindrical part 4A of the rotation bowl 4, and a rubber skirt 5 installed in a manner that it surrounds the outside of the entire body of a solid mater discharge part including a solid matter discharge outlet 8 of the rotation bowl 4. The washing apparatus in the vertically standing decanter-like centrifuge has through holes H which are to insert washing liquid supply pipes 30, 31 through approximately parallel to the screw shaft 2B from an aperture of an upper part end plate 10 and are formed in a screw blade 2A of the screw conveyer 2 and the washing apparatus washes the inside of the rotation bowl 4 by jetting a washing liquid out of jetting holes H' of the washing liquid supply pipes 30, 31 inserted into the through holes.

The flow dividing device of this centrifugal separator is constituted so that the raw liquid slurry divided by the flow dividing device becomes easy to flow in the direction opposite to the rotary direction of the screw conveyor, that is, the flow line of the raw liquid slurry becomes a vortex line from the center to the outside in the direction opposite to the rotary direction of the screw conveyor.
