    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for recognizing an object at the sea bottom, for detecting a target object lying at the bottom of sea, and to provide an underwater cruising body having the apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a transmitter 2 located at sea, two reception sections 3 and 4 that receive a reflection signal, where a signal transmitted from the transmitter 2 hits the sea bottom surface, or a target object 10 located on the sea bottom surface 9 and is reflected, and are arranged separately, a correlation processor 5 for calculating correlation phase by correlating signals that the reception sections 3 and 4 have received, and a phase determining means 6 that determines that the target object 10 is at the bottom sea surface 9, when a plurality of correlation phases are inputted and a change appears in the correlation phases, and determines that no target object 10 is present on the sea bottom surface 9, when the correlation phases do not change.
