    • PURPOSE:To provide a dividing type dummy bar which permits simple division and connection of dummy bars by providing a juncture consisting of a projecting shape and a recessed shape between the rear end of the preceding dummy bar and the front end of the succeeding dummy bar. CONSTITUTION:A preceding dummy bar 2 emerging from a drawing roll device in the state of connecting the same, via an engaging part, to a succeeding dummy bar 3 is moved on a table roll 8. When the front end of the bar 2 dashes against a front end detecting limit switch 13, a disconnecting device 4 is moved upward by the signal thereof to force upward the engaging piece 10 of the bar 2, thereby disconnecting the bar 2 from the engaging piece 9 of the bar 3. The bar 2 travels on the roll 8 as it is and when the bar contacts with a stopper 6, the roll 8 is stopped by the signal thereof. The lifting means of dummy bar housing devices 5, 5', 5'' and a carriage 17 are thereafter operated to force upward and traverse the bar 2, thereby placing and housing the same on a stowage table 18.

    • PURPOSE:To enable control of a casting speed, control of the tension on a pair of driven endless metallic belts and adjustment of meandering with the titled installation which forms the side walls on long sides with said belts by extending the belts to specific three pulleys. CONSTITUTION:An endless metallic belt 4 is extended to a driving pulley 3, a tension pulley 1 and a steering pulley 2 existing between these pulleys in such a way that the driving locus on the side face of the belts show a triangular shape, thus forming the wall surface on a long side. The wall surface on a short side is formed of a stationary casting mold 5 thereby constituting a casting space for a molten metal. The pulley 3 is disposed at the bottom end on the inside wall surface of said casting mold space and functions to drive the belt 4 so as to adjust the casting speed. The pulley 1 is disposed at the top end on the inside wall of the above-mentioned casting mold space and functions to adjust the tension of the belt 4. The pulley 2 functions to adjust meandering of the belt 4. Stable casting of a thin slab at a high speed is made possible according to such construction.

    • PURPOSE:To perform satisfactorily cooling and to maintain satisfactorily a device by pressing sealing plates to the edges on both sides of a belt and disposing plural stages of rolls extending in the transverse direction of the belts. CONSTITUTION:A roll 19 group which contacts freely rotatably with a belt 1 in a way as to press the belt 1 between a drive pulley 3 and a steering pulley 4 to the bottom end face of a sealing plate 15 is attached via springs 20 to a frame 17. The belt 1 between the pulley 3 and the pulley 4 is pressed elastically to the bottom end face of the plate 15 in the rolling contact state by means of the rolls 19. The tight contact state is thus maintained between the belt 1 and the bottom end face of the plate 15, by which cooling water is thoroughly discharged into a duct 16.

Jet type belt coolers 40 consisting of plural finned roll pairs 17 and many jet pipe pairs 13 for cooling water are provided on the rear of the belts 5, 5' near the meniscus 24 of the molten metal 10 in such casting machine and the cooling water pressure is regulated to cool the molten metal 10. Hermetic type belt coolers 48 consisting of providing channels for passing of cooling water and coolind pads 41, 41' having slits 36, 37 for supplied and discharging of the cooling water communicating with said channels on the rear of the belts 5, 5' in contact therewith are further provided in a casting area 25 to suppress bulging of the belts 5, 5' to the counter casting surface side.

    • PURPOSE:To extend the life of a belt with reduced wear thereof by providing grooved passages in a side block and/or press block, and supplying a lubricant to the belt through said grooved passages. CONSTITUTION:A fine groove 12-a and a flow passage 12-b are provided in a press block 12 disposed to a belt 2, and a groove 13-c and a flow passage 13-d are provided similarly in a side block (assembly of 13-a and 13-b). Such passages 12-b, 13-d and grooves 12-a, 13-c are provided in one place or in plural places at a suitable interval. A lubricant is supplied from the passages 12-b, 13-d and is filled in the grooves 12-a, 13-c from which the lubricant is supplied to the spacing between the belt 2 and the side block as well as press block 12. The wear of the belt 2 is thus reduced, whereby the extended life of the belt, improved productivity and the reduced driving power for the belt 2 are obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To suppress bulging of a casting billet by segmenting hermetically a casting mold belt to plural sections by partition plates and adjusting the pressure of cooling water for each of the sections. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water is partitioned from the atm. air by a belt 12 moving in synchronization with a billet 11, side walls, partition plates 18 for a cooling zone and a body cover 15. The cooling water pressure in flow passages 23 for the cooling water, i.e., the belt supporting force, is adjustable as desired for each of the sections in accordance with the change in the static pressure of a molten metal by control valves 21. The cooling water from a water feed header 13 flows through feed water branches 14 and pressure equalizing chambers 22 for the feed water then through the passages 23. While the static pressure of the molten metal exerted on the belt is supported by the water pressure, the belt 12 is cooled and the cooling water is discharged through discharge branches 19, discharge headers 20 and pressure control valves 21. The bulging of the billet 11 on the cooling water side is suppressed and the overheating of the belt is prevented by the above-mentioned method.

    • PURPOSE:To cast directly a thin billet and to simplify control of the amt. of a molten steel by using a broad slit nozzle as a charging nozzle and heating and insulating the nozzle part. CONSTITUTION:Resistors 6 are embedded in a nozzle 4 near the wall surface which contacts with a molten steel 5. The resistors 6 are connected to a power source 7. The molten steel 5 is supplied through a pouring cup 9 when a cover 8 attached with a pressure conduit pipe 3 is opened. After the prescribed steel 5 is received in a ladle 1, the cover 8 is closed and inert gas is supplied through the pipe 3 then the pressure in a pressure chamber 10 rises and the molten steel 5 moves toward the nozzle 4. The molten steel is supplied through the aperture 11 of the nozzle 4 to the next stage. The resistors 6 generate heat, when energized, to heat and insulate the nozzle 4 so that the molten steel 5 is prevented from solidification during passage through the nozzle 4.
