    • In a variable size sensing system and a method for redefining the size of a sensing area thereof, the sensing system includes four elements, a mark and two image sensing devices. The four elements are consecutively connected and thereby forming a frame. Two of the four elements have variable lengths so as to adjust the size of the frame. The inner edge of the frame defines a sensing area of a parallelogram shape. The sensing system has a first and a second working mode. The sensing area has a first size and a second size when the sensing system is in the first working mode and the second working mode respectively, wherein the first size is predetermined and smaller than the second size. The mark is used to mark a fixed length. When the sensing system is changed from the first working mode to the second working mode, the mark sensed by the image sensing devices can be utilized to redefine the size of the sensing area in the sensing system.

    • In a touch system and a method for obtaining a position of a pointer, the touch system includes a touch surface, at least three image sensing apparatuses and a processing circuit. A shape of the touch surface is a quadrilateral. The image sensing apparatuses are disposed at different comers of the touch surface and sensing areas of the image sensing apparatuses cooperatively cover the touch surface. The processing circuit is coupled to the image sensing apparatuses. When a pointer approaches the touch surface, the processing circuit takes each two of the image sensing apparatuses as one pair and detects a coordinate value of the pointer from images acquired by each pair of image sensing apparatuses. After at least two coordinate values have been detected, the processing circuit calculates the mean value of coordinate values of the pointer according to the detected coordinate values.

The reflective mirror is configured for generating a mirror image of a pointer when the pointer approaches the sensing area. When the pointer approaches the sensing area, the processing circuit calculates a coordinate value of the pointer according to an image sensed by the image sensor and a predetermined size of the pointer. The pointer forms an imaginary orthographic projection in the sensing area, the processing circuit regards the imaginary orthographic projection as a round projection, and a radius of the round projection is the predetermined size.

    • A portable communication device is provided. According to one embodiment of the disclosure, the portable communication device includes a first casing comprising a first input unit, and a second casing attached to the first casing. When the second casing is attached to the first casing, a space for the placement of a processing unit can be defined. The second casing further includes a second input unit electrically connected to a processing unit, and the second input unit further includes at least one touch zone. When the at least one touch zone is touched, a sensing signal indicative of the at least one touch zone being touched is delivered to the processing unit. The processing unit controls the portable communication device to operate according to the sensing signal indicating the touched state of the at least one touch zone.
