    • The present invention relates to a television system (50) and a method for automatically suggesting suitable programs to a viewer from a large number of available programs. The system (50) includes a DTV-agent system (21). Title information and characteristics of programs are made available as EPG (Electronic Program Guide) data, which including at least one Electronic Program Guide Database (22). A learning module (39) records characteristics associated with each program viewed by the user, and forms sets of these characteristics. The frequency of occurrence of each set is also determined.     • An array multiplier comprises a partial product array including a plurality of array elements and a final carry propagate adder. Operands smaller than a corresponding dimension of the partial product array are shifted toward the most significant row or column of the array to reduce the number of array elements used to compute the product of the operands. Switching activity in the unused array elements may be reduced by turning off power to the array elements or by padding the shifted operands with zeros in the least significant bits. Additional power saving may be achieved by having bypass lines in the partial product array that bypasses non-essential array elements and by feeding partial sum and carry directly to the final carry propagate adder. Elements of the carry propagate adder may also be bypassed to achieve further power reduction.

    • A digital data distribution system that comprises a broadcasting station and an end station. The broadcasting station broadcasts a broadcast signal repetitively modulated with a digital information signal. The digital information signal includes a file group composed of body files containing any or all of audio, graphics and text information. The end system includes a receiver, a user interface, a memory, a controller and a reproduction section. The receiver receives the broadcast signal from the broadcasting station and demodulates the digital information signal from the broadcast signal to generate a digital bit stream. The user interface allows a user to select at least one of the body files for storage as a selected body file. The memory is substantially smaller than the file group. The controller identifies the selected body file in the digital bit stream and causes the selected body file to be stored in the memory. The reproduction section reproduces the audio, graphics or text information contained in the selected body file stored in the memory.
