    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium air battery having a long life.
      SOLUTION: The lithium air battery 102 has a structure in which a power generation unit 116 formed by filling electrolyte 112 between an air electrode 114 and a negative electrode assembly 104 is housed in a container 124. The negative electrode assembly 104 has a three-layered structure in which a negative electrode 106 is covered with a waterproof layer 110 and in which a buffer layer 108 is interposed between the negative electrode 106 and the waterproof layer 110. A material of the negative electrode 106 may be an alloy or compound containing lithium as a principal component, but preferably lithium metal. A material of the waterproof layer 110 is lithium ion conductive glass ceramics. A material of the buffer layer 108 is lithium ion conductive polymer electrolyte. The electrolyte 112 is a pH buffer solution containing lithium ion.
