    • A method for processing security communication protocol compliant signed receipts at a mobile communication device linked to a host system is provided. The host system receives an email message linked to a digital signature, and a signed receipt. The host system redirects the signed receipt to the mobile communication device. The host system determines if the email message is available at the mobile communication device, and if not, the host system retrieves the email message and redirects the email message to the mobile communication device. The mobile communication device can then verify the signed receipt based on the email message. Optionally, rather than the email message, the host system retrieves and/or recalculates data elements associated with the email message and required to verify the signed receipt, and redirects these data elements to the mobile communication device. A related system is provided, as well as server computer program for the host system, and device computer program for the mobile communication device.

    • A system and method of automatically turning a PAN (personal area network) radio, such as a Bluetooth radio, on and off in a wireless device is described. The wireless device is coupled to an audio peripheral through a wireless PAN connection. In one embodiment, if the wireless PAN connection becomes non-operational, then the PAN radio in the wireless device is automatically turned off in order to conserve power. In another embodiment, if a call is completed, then the personal is network radio is automatically turned off. The PAN radio is turned back on automatically whenever its operation is required such as when receiving or placing a call. In another embodiment, if any wireless connection becomes non-operational or any communication terminates on any connection, then a radio in the wireless device is automatically turned off in order to conserve power. The radio is turned back on automatically whenever its operation is required such as when receiving or sending data.

The method includes the steps of forming an emergency signal in relation to the mobile station terminated call; sending the emergency signal to the mobile station on behalf of the emergency call centre; and detecting the emergency signal at the mobile station. The apparatus includes emergency signal forming means for forming an emergency signal in relation to the mobile station terminated call; emergency signal sending means for sending said emergency signal to the mobile station on behalf of the emergency call centre; and emergency signal detecting means for detecting said emergency signal at the mobile station. A global emergency call information record is disclosed for use in cdma2000 type networks and the like. The apparatus and method may apply to other networks.
