摘要： A tibial prosthesis has a metal tray component (1) comprising a transverse member (3) with a peripheral upstanding rim (6) and a projecting stem (4). The upstanding rim (6) includes a posterior rim portion with an undercut lip forming a pair of recesses (7, 8) and an anterior rim portion with an open angled posterior surface portion (9) and a posteriorly projecting barbed portion (10). The prosthesis also includes a tibia insert (2) made of a plastics material which fits on the tibial implant (1) within the upstanding rim (6) and has on a posterior portion thereof a shaped contour (14, 15) adapted in use to fit snugly under the undercut lip and on an anterior portion thereof an anterior surface (13) having a taper angle substantially corresponding to the angle of the open angled posterior surface portion.

摘要： A cap used during the insertion of an acetabular cup prosthesis. The cap includes impaction plate having an upperside and an underside. The impaction plate includes a plurality of separate sectors mutually connected at a connection point on the impaction plate by flanges. Each sector includes interlocking elements which in use enable the impaction plate to be connected to an introduction tool. The cap also includes at least one lug extending downwardly from the underside of each sector. The lug is located at the portion of the underside of the impaction plate which will in use enable the lug to be interconnected with a corresponding recess on an internal wall, an external wall or a rim of a prosthesis.

摘要： An endoprosthetic bone joint device, particularly suitable for a finger or toe joint, comprises two cups and a ball or other roller freely located in and between the cups in articulatory engagement. Normally the cups do not wholly encompass the ball, and so allow flexion-extension simulating articulation limited by mutual abutment of relevant portions of the cup rims. For this purpose, at least one of the cup rims is contoured from planar form to provide two mutually-inclined, diametrically-opposed stop surfaces. Various requirements for abduction-adduction function simulation can also be accommodated by curved profiling of said one cup rim between its stop surfaces.

摘要： A powered saw developed for use in orthopaedic surgery has a strip-form blade carrier projecting from a casing in which it is driven at its inner end in an orbiting manner while further towards the carrier free end the carrier is constrained to allow longitudinal translation and pivotal movement. In consequence, the free end of the carrier, and all points of a blade projecting therefrom, are also subjected to an orbital motion. By appropriate location of teeth the blade can therefore cut in any combination of both sideways directions and also at its tip, and preferably has non-symmetrical teeth which are all raked in the same sense around the edge of the blade.

摘要： An endoprosthetic bone joint device for the talo-navicular joint comprises two generally similar components each of disc form with one face curved to define a bearing surface and the other face provided with an elongated, relatively shallow, relieved configuration extending across the latter face, the components differing by having complementary bearing surfaces of respectively convex and concave shape. The bearing surface shapes are suitably spherical and the relieved configurations provided by a longitudinally tapered rib with undercut side faces. In use, the joint is approached from above, the bones formed with downward slots to receive the component ribs by translation, and the components with convex and concave bearing surfaces respectively cemented to the talus and navicular.
