    • The invention relates to a color photographic apparatus comprising plural image forming units respectively developing means having a toner of different color than others, moving means for moving entirety of the plural image forming units for positioning the plural image forming units at image forming position a transfer member on which on a toner image formed on the photosensitive member is transferred and overlaid, and a color image is formed, wherein a length (peripheral length) on the transfer member surface is longer than a sum of the length of the largest paper on the basis of transferring direction of the paper and the length (peripheral length) from the exposure position to the transfer position on the photosensitive member. Further, an apparatus is provided where between the steps for forming a toner image at each color, the speed of the transfer member is changed from a first running speed to a stopping condition or the second running speed after each color image is transferred on the transferred member.

    • A color electrophotographic apparatus using a plurality of image forming units (31Bk,31Y,31M,31C). The entire image forming unit group moves by rotation, and a toner image is transferred on an intermediate transfer belt (49) at an image forming position. The intermediate transfer belt (49) is variable in speed, and while the image forming unit group is moving, it is stopped or runs at low speed.
