    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of automatically cleaning an air filter with simple constitution. SOLUTION: The air conditioner has a filter device 1 disposed upstream of a heat exchanger (not shown in the figure). The filter device 1 has a pair of winding shafts 8, the air filter 4 stretched between the pair of winding shafts 8 to catch dust, a winding drive motor 7 driving the winding shafts 8, a suction nozzle 3 disposed on the windward side of the air filter 4 and having its longitudinal direction in a horizontal direction, and a suction exhauster 5 communicating with the suction nozzle 3. A film 3c wound in the longitudinal direction of the suction nozzle 3 and driven is disposed in the suction nozzle 3. The film 3c comprises a dust scraping pad 3b for scraping dust sticking to the air filter 4, and a suction port 3a for sucking dust scraped by the dust scraping pad 3b. Dust sticking to the air filter 4 can be surely sucked with simple constitution and with little pressure loss and small suction air capacity without impairing the basic performance of the air conditioner.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner with superior cleaning performance of an air filter. SOLUTION: The air filter device 1 disposed in an air duct 15 having an air fan 10, is provided with a filter frame 2, winding shafts 8 disposed at upper and lower end parts of the filter frame 2, the air filter 4 stretched between the winding shafts 8, a laterally long suction nozzle 3 disposed in front of the air filter 4, a suction port 3a which is provided at the suction nozzle 3 so as to oppose to the air filter 4 and horizontally movable, and a suction/discharge device 5 communicating with the suction port 3a. A part of the lower winding shaft 8 is located on a vertical line passing through a contact point of the lowest end part of the filter frame 2 on which the rear face of the air filter 4 abuts, or close to the fan 10 side from the vertical line. The configuration of a short distance from the suction port 3a to the suction discharge/device 5 and a simple constitution reduces pressure loss, increases suction force, makes the distance between the air filter and suction nozzle constant, enabling steady sucking cleaning.
