    • PURPOSE: To make a plastic material impermeable to the external air and water, to prevent the oxidation of a recording medium, and to prolong the life of the titled optical disk by impregnating the plastic material with mineral oil or synthetic oil.
      CONSTITUTION: A recording medium 2 is formed by sputtering, vapor deposition, etc. on the surface of an oil-impregnated plastic substrate 1 formed by impregnating the plastic substrate with oil. Besides, the recording medium 2 and an oil- impregnated plastic substrate 4 to be adhered obtained by impregnating a plastic substrate with oil are bonded with an adhesive layer 3 with resin. By such a structure, the permeability of the plastic substrate to air and water can be prevented, the oxidation of the recording medium of the optical disk is prevented, and the life of the optical disk can be prolonged.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the titled optical disk substrate having high heat resistance, impermeable to air and water, and having excellent durability by forming a tracking groove layer with a polysiloxane compd. prepared from a silicon compd. on the substrate for an optical disk. CONSTITUTION:A tracking groove layer 2 is formed on a substrate disk 2 of glass or plastics with a polysiloxane compd. obtained by heating a silicon compd. shown by the formula RnSi(OH)4-n, where R is H or alkyl and (n) is 3-1. The layer 2 has high heat resistance, and is impermeable to air and water. When an optical recording film is formed on the layer 2 by vapor deposition or sputtering, the layer is not deformed due to the heat generated in the formation, and the film is formed at high speed. The optical recording film is not deteriorated from the side of the substrate because of the impermeability of the substrate to air and water. Accordingly, a substrate for an optical disk having excellent durability is obtained.
