    • A reflector having a structure in which a high refractive index layer, a low refractive index layer, and a metal layer mainly composed of silver or aluminum are sequentially arranged on a polymer base. The reflector can realize a higher reflectance than the conventional reflective bodies by using a polymer base wherein the atoms measured by XPS which constitute the surface of the polymer base are substantially identical with those constituting the inside of the polymer base. Furthermore, such a reflector can be used for a reflector, a reflector under a light-guiding plate, a backlight device and a liquid crystal display. The polymer base can be obtained by bringing a polymer base and a liquid into contact with each other.

    • An object of the invention is to provide a reflector using a metal thin film layer, particularly a reflector having higher reflectance than in the prior art. Specifically, studies have been made to provide a reflector which exhibits a superior reflection-increasing effect. As a result, it has been found that if the thickness of a low refractive index thin film layer (B) which comes in contact with a metal thin film layer (A) is controlled so that it is within a range of 0.7λ/8nL-1.3λ/8nL, a reflector having an arrangement of metal layer (A)/low refractive index thin film layer (B)/high refractive index thin film layer (C) exhibits reflectance which is extremely superior than in the prior art over a wide wavelength range. More specifically, it exhibits higher reflectance than a pure silver single film does, and a reflector superior in durability can be obtained. The lamp reflector, reflector under the light-guiding plate of the invention uses the above-mentioned reflector; therefore, if it is applied to each display device, high brilliance and vivid image can be realized. Further, since the liquid crystal display device of the invention uses the above-mentioned reflector, a clear vivid image can be realized.

    • Two plane parallel plates, orthogonally intersecting each other, are provided in front of a CCD device. The plane parallel plate is supported by its two ends which are deviated from an optical path. Each end of the plane parallel plate includes an armature made of soft electromagnetic iron, and two electromagnets are provided in the optical axis direction, while sandwiching each armature. By the on/off state of the two electromagnets, the armature can control the optical device in three angled positions, thus the optical device can have three shift positions with respect to the optical axis. Therefore, by virtue of the optical devices, an optical path can be determined by selecting a shift position of said optical device from nine shift positions (3×3).

    • The compressor has a cylinder chamber, a control plate provided with an inlet hole, a gas exchange chamber, and gas supply passages. The cylinder chamber is in communication with the gas exchange chamber via the inlet hole in the control plate. The gas exchange chamber is in communication with the outside via the gas supply passages. When the displacement is small, a part of refrigerant gas inside the cylinder chamber is bypassed to the gas exchange chamber from the inlet hole in the control plate. Therefore, great pressure variations are induced in the gas exchange chamber, but the gas exchange chamber is in communication with the outside via the considerably long gas supply passages. These passages mitigate the pressure variations transmitted to the outside. Furthermore, the passages act also as a muffler. Consequently, pressure variations inside the gas exchange chamber are prevented from being transmitted to external piping and so on; otherwise noise would be produced.
