    • The present invention provides an ink tank in which ink is unlikely to leak from an air communication hole even with variation in the internal pressure of the ink tank or an external impact on the ink tank. Specifically, ink attached to a rib or trapped in a groove may disperse to the vicinity of a projecting portion. In this case, first, a first groove is provided at a predetermined distance from the projecting portion, enabling a reduction in the possibility that the ink disperses from the groove or a remoter area to the projecting portion. Second, even if the dispersing ink enters an area surrounded by the groove, a second groove formed in the area allows the dispersing ink to be trapped therein.

    • A liquid discharge head includes a discharge port array having discharge ports for discharging liquid, a liquid chamber for supplying liquid to the discharge port array, and a liquid introduction passage for introducing liquid to the liquid chamber. A vertical cross section of the liquid chamber has an elongated shape. The liquid introduction passage is wider than the liquid chamber in a width direction of the elongated shape. A communicating portion is longer than a width of the liquid chamber and shorter than the liquid chamber, and is projecting from the liquid introduction passage for the liquid chamber. A bottom of the liquid introduction passage is disposed at a lower position than a top of the liquid chamber in the communicating portion, and a distance between the top and the bottom is longer than half of the width of the liquid chamber.

    • An ink jet printing head is attachable to/detachable from an ink jet printing apparatus and includes an electric wiring member formed of a TAB tape to which terminals are provided, and has a wiring exposed through an end section of the electric wiring member, the terminals accepting signals by making contact with a connection portion on the part of the apparatus when the head is attached to the apparatus. An opening is provided in a supporting member which supports the electric wiring member, the opening extending in a direction traversing an area where the electric wiring member is supported. Thereby, movement of liquid, such as water and ink, to the end section is blocked, the liquid moving through a gap between a back surface of the electric wiring member and a surface of the supporting member.
