    • A variable type compressor has a housing that houses a crank chamber and rotatably supports a drive shaft. Part of the housing is constituted by a cylinder block. Cylinder bores extend through the housing about the drive shaft. A piston is accommodated in each cylinder bore. A discharge chamber is defined in the housing and connected to the crank chamber by a pressurizing passage. An inclinable cam plate is supported on the drive shaft. The reciprocation of each piston draws refrigerant gas into the associated cylinder bore from a suction chamber and discharges the refrigerant gas into the discharge chamber through a discharge port. The displacement and the discharge of refrigerant gas is controlled by altering the inclination of the cam plate. A collection compartment is provided to receive the refrigerant gas discharged from the cylinder bores. Oil is separated from the refrigerant gas in the collection compartment. The inlet of the pressurizing passage is connected with the collection compartment to supply the separated oil to the crank chamber.

    • A variable capacity swash-plate-type refrigerant compressor incorporating therein single-headed pistons reciprocating in the cylinder bores to compress refrigerant gas, a drive shaft rotatably supported and driven by an external drive source, a swash-plate element mounted around the drive shaft and rotated by the drive shaft so that the rotation of the swash-plate element causing the reciprocation of the single-headed pistons, and a hinge mechanism arranged between the drive shaft and the swash-plate element to permit the swash-plate element to change its angle of inclination with respect to the axis of rotation of the drive shaft to thereby adjustably change the delivery capacity of the compressor, the swash-plate element being constituted by a swash-plate-body member made of an aluminum alloy material and functioning as a sliding contact member cooperating with the single-headed pistons via shoes, and a guide-bracket member made of an iron based material and functioning as a hinge mechanism forming member. The swash-plate-body member and the guide-bracket member are connected together by press-fitting and prevented, by a rotation-preventing unit, from being relatively rotated against one another.

    • A variable displacement compressor that varies its displacement by altering the inclination of a swash plate. A drive shaft is supported rotatably within a housing. A rotor is fixed to the drive shaft. A swash plate is mounted on the drive shaft and adapted to slide and incline with respect to the shaft. A hinge mechanism operably connects the swash plate to the rotor. A plurality of pistons, each accommodated in one of the bores and coupled to the swash plate, are reciprocated in the bore by the rotation of the swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a guide pin that projects from the swash plate and includes a joint. A support arm projects from the rotor. The support arm includes a receptacle which accommodates the joint and extends toward the drive shaft. A bushing is accommodated within the receptacle and slides along a wall of the receptacle. The bushing is provided with an interior space to accommodate the joint. The interior space allows the joint to pivot therein when the inclination of the swash plate is altered. The bushing is provided with a slit to permit the interior space to be temporarily enlarged when attaching the bushing to the joint.
