摘要： In an optical memory apparatus wherein predetermined information is optically recorded on a recording medium along guide grooves previously formed and then played back; an optical memory apparatus wherein, using a tracking signal and a signal indicating the quantity of reflected light at the time at which a projected light beam passes through the guide grooves, the directions in which the light beam passes through the grooves and the number of the guide grooves to be passed are detected, a seek control is performed by adding and subtracting the numbers of the guide grooves to be passed, depending upon the directions of passage, and fine positioning is thereafter performed by the use of the tracking signal.

摘要： An optical information disc apparatus includes a laser source, a recording medium with an information track, an optical system for emitting a laser beam from the laser source onto the information track, a photodetector detecting the focus error of the optical system using the light reflected from the information track, and an auto-focusing servo system operating the optical system to make the focus of the system follow the upward and downward movement of the recording medium, the optical information disc apparatus being further provided with a control circuit to make the auto-focusing servo system effective only when the optical system is in a position equivalent to the linear region of a defocusing signal having an S-curve characteristic.

摘要： An optical information processor records predetermined information along a track on a recording medium through the irradiation of a light beam intensity-modulated in accordance with the predetermined information. A tracking signal obtained when the light beam traces the track, is compared with first and second preset values which define a predetermined range. When the tracking signal departs from the predetermined range, the intensity modulation of the light beam or the recording operation is stopped, thereby preventing data destruction which otherwise occurs due to the digression of the light beam from the track.

摘要： Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for controlling a first storage system receiving commands from a first and second managers to create a consistency group with a second storage system. Host writes are received at the first storage system, wherein the first storage system includes a first storage system primary site and a first storage system secondary site. The first storage system sends the host writes from the first storage system primary site to the first storage system secondary site. Host write operations are quiesced at the first storage system in response to a first command from a first manager. Host write operations are resumed at the first storage system in response to receiving a second command from the first manager. The first storage system receives a run command with a marker, wherein the marker indicates a cycle number to control the cycles of the first and second storage systems. The first storage system sends the marker from the first storage system primary site to the first storage system secondary site. The first storage system sends the marker to a second manager. The first storage system applies the host writes to the first storage system secondary site. The first storage system sends a first message to the first storage system primary site from the first storage system secondary site after completing the applying of the host writes. The first storage system sends a second message to the first manager indicating whether conformation was received from the first storage system secondary site that the host writes were applied.

The first and second replication managers form a first consistency group and a second consistency group of data from the first and second source storages, respectively, that are consistent as of a point-in-time in response to the create consistency group command; transmitting, by the first and second replication managers, the data in the formed first and second consistency groups to a first journal and second journal, respectively. The first and second replication managers commit the data in the first and second consistency groups in the first and second journals to the first and second target storages, respectively, in response to the first and second replication managers receiving a commit command.
