    • A lens drive device is provide which includes a movable lens body having a lens, a drive element for moving the movable lens body in an optical axis direction of the lens, and a fixing body which movably supports the movable lens body in the optical axis direction. The movable lens body has a lens-barrel provided with a lens and a lens-barrel holder which movably supports the lens-barrel in the optical axis direction. The lens-barrel holder is provided with a first magnetic element as the drive element. The fixing body has a second magnetic element as the drive element and a regulating part which regulates a moving range in the optical axis direction of the lens-barrel holder. The movable lens body is moved by a magnetic attractive force or a magnetic repulsive force between the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element.

    • A card issuing device and method capable of handling a plurality of types of cards with a single card extracting and moving mechanism having two motors. The device has a plurality of card stackers each for storing a plurality of cards, and a card extracting and moving mechanism movably provided for extracting cards one at a time from any one of the card stackers. A card reader for recording or reading information on or from the card, an engraving/embossing device for marking characters on the card, and a topper mechanism for applying color to the marked characters are provided. A waste card receiver is also provided and is driven by the same motors that drive the card extracting and moving mechanisms. Correction of card inclination effect can be performed so that the marked characters for a row parallel to a desired edge of the card even when the card is held at an angle with respect to the moving direction during the marking process. The correction is carried out by measuring the degree of inclination of the card, and moving the card in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the marking before marking each subsequent character, the amount of the perpendicular movement being dependent on the measured degree of inclination of the card.

    • A focus detector includes a movable reflecting mirror and a stationary reflecting mirror which reflect incident light admitted through a pair of independent windows for the purpose of comparison. A drive for the movable mirror drives it with different speeds during its movement in a forward and a reverse direction. The comparison takes place when the movable mirror is driven at a lower speed. The drive includes a non-symmetrical eccentric cam, a motor for rotating the eccentric cam, and a support for the movable mirror which bears against the eccentric cam. The eccentric cam is provided integrally with a mode selection cam, which operates to open and close a comparison enable switch.
