    • A seatbelt apparatus is provided which can constrain a passenger by ensuring removal of a slack of a lap belt when two pretensioners are activated under two different time frames. A pretensioner of a seatbelt retractor is activated first, and a shoulder belt and a lap belt are pulled in a direction toward the seatbelt retractor. Subsequently, a pretensioner of a belt anchor portion is activated and pulls a seatbelt toward the belt anchor portion, and hence a one-way tongue catches and locks the seatbelt. Accordingly, the shoulder belt is prevented from moving toward the lap belt through the tongue. Therefore, removal of the slack of the lap belt is ensured, and hence a lumber of the passenger is firmly fixed.

    • An airbelt and an airbelt apparatus is prevented from undergoing re-elongation due to a tensile force applied to the airbelt, which is reduced in length in the longitudinal direction after expansion. An airbelt includes a first standard belt, a second standard belt, and an expandable portion therebetween. A re-elongation preventing member may include end members arranged respectively on both end sides of the expandable portion, and a joint member for joining the end members. When an inflator is activated, the expandable portion is expanded, and the length of the expandable portion is reduced, and hence the expandable portion is accommodated between the end members of the re-elongation preventing member as a whole. The expanded expandable portion is too thick to pass through belt insertion ports. Even when a significant tensile force is applied via the standard belt, the expandable portion is not elongated.

    • An occupant restraining apparatus in which a seat bag and an air belt are inflated by a common inflator and the constitution of which can be simplified. The occupant restraining apparatus includes an inflatable seat bag 20 disposed under the front portion of a seat cushion, and an air belt 30 having an inflatable lap bag 34 to be brought to the front of an occupant. An inflator 40 is installed inside the seat bag 20. One end of a pipe 50 is connected to the seat bag 20, and the other end of the pipe 50 is connected to the air belt 30. When the inflator 40 ejects gas, gas is supplied from the inflator 40 to the inside of the seat bag 20. Next, the gas in the seat bag 20 flows through the pipe 50 into the lap bag 34.

The anchor may have an opening, wherein only a tip end side of a portion of the airbelt is inserted into the opening. The portion of the airbelt can be the mesh webbing only or a combination of the mesh webbing and a webbing. The portion of the airbelt inserted into the opening can be folded back so as to overlap onto a base end side of the airbelt, and the tip end side of the portion of the airbelt and the base end side of the airbelt are stitched together.
