    • There is provided a measuring system capable of rendering a power source voltage of an internal circuit higher than a drivable voltage of the internal circuit by removing or reducing a chloride film with greater certainty, thereby enabling operation, and initial activation of the internal circuit to be normally executed, or preventing the internal circuit from running away. The measuring system comprises a thionyl chloride based primary cell, a cell voltage measurement unit, and an internal circuit provided with state-transition controller wherein in the case of transition of the internal circuit to a state thereof, having a discharge current larger than the discharge current in the present state thereof, the transition is made according to results of comparison of a voltage measured by the cell voltage measurement unit with a threshold on the basis of a discharge current in a state before, or after the transition of the internal circuit.

    • An ophthalmic photographic apparatus comprises a photographic mask for defining a fundus photography range, a photographic stop for eliminating light reflected from an anterior portion of the eye, and a focusing lens for bringing the fundus into focus. The photographic mask and the photographic stop are interlocked and move as one unit relative to the movement of the focusing lens in such a way that with respect to a photographic optical system, the photographic mask is maintained at a position substantially conjugate with an imaging plane of a CCD and the photographic stop is maintained at a position substantially conjugate with an anterior portion of the eye. The CCD is located at the image-side focal plane of the image-formation lens, the mask is located on the object-side focal plane of the focusing lens, and the photographic stop is located on the image-side focal plane of the focusing lens.

    • A message processing device is adapted to obtain text data and read aloud the text data aloud by using a voice synthesizer. A loudspeaker device is connected to the message processing device to output or read aloud the text data. The text data can be received through a receiving device that receives outside information data or e-mail message data. The voice synthesizer can be controlled by an outside information controller, with the outside information controller being able to distinguish senders of the text data and being able to select one voice tone data to read aloud messages sent by one sender. If the controller recognizes that there are other messages sent by another sender, the controller allots different voice tone data for the other sender's messages. The message processing device can include a voice navigation device to generate voice signals for giving route guidance messages or information to a driver of a vehicle. The voice tone used for the route guidance message is preferably different from the voice tone used to read aloud the outside information message. It is thus possible for the driver to recognize the source or senders of different messages being read aloud. It is also possible to adjust the output timing of the route guidance message and the outside information message.
