    • A compression type load cell (50) is provided for measuring a load (L) applied to an object (3). Cell (50) has a first end (7) adapted to receive load (L) thereupon and an opposite end (9) adapted to support cell (50) upon object (3) with end (7) adapted to direct load (L) axially along a central longitudinal axis (x) of cell (50). Cell (50) has a reduced section (8) having a first pair of bores (14,14') therethrough that are preferably oriented substantially transverse to axis (x) and are spaced-apart from each other substantially symmetrically on opposite sides of axis (x). Reduced section (8) has a second pair of bores (16,16') therethrough between bores (14,14') and end (9) that are preferably substantially transverse to axis (x) and respectively axially aligned with bores (14,14'). A pair of slots (19) and (19') extend from outside cell (50) and respectively preferably intersect bores (14,14') for their entire length and a channel (18) extends between and intersects bores (16) and (16') for their entire length providing section (8) with enhanced axial movement between bores (14,14') and (16,16') upon application of load (L) on cell (50) which is measured by strain sensing means mounted on load sensing surfaces (10,12) defined on opposite sides of section (8) between bores (14,14') and (16,16').

    • A plurality of load bar assemblies (14) are connected between a supported structure (10) and a supporting structure (12) for determining an amount of load in the supported structure. Each load bar assembly includes a load bar (20) having a middle portion (22) connected with the supported structure and end portions (24, 26) connected by load bar mounting assemblies (34) with the supported structure. Each load bar mounting assembly includes a fulcrum member (50) which supports the load bar end portion on a fulcrumming surface (54). An elongated connecting structure (60) having an enlarged upper portion (64) extends through a load bar end portion aperture (32) and a fulcrum member aperture (56) and is connected with the supporting structure. An annular washer (72) and a tubular sleeve (74) of resilient material are disposed between the elongated connecting structure and the load bar end portion to allow limited movement therebetween.

    • A spark electrode assembly (10) for a gas range igniter system is disclosed which is low in cost, easy to assemble, and reliable in operation. The assembly comprises a resilient, electrically conductive support member 18 having a U-shaped configuration and adapted for connection to the top frame of the gas range. An integrally molded insulator member (46) is connected to the support by means of a peripheral flange portion (50) which extends through rectangular openings (38) formed in parallel leg portions (43, 44) of the support. The inward spring bias exerted by the legs of the support maintain the insulator assembled thereto. A barbed, wire connecting insert (60) is crimped to an electrical lead (58) and inserted into a bore (54) in the insulator. Barbs (64, 66) on the insert abut against the top surface of a wall (56) which extend inward radially from the internal wall of bore (54) and prevent removal of the electrical lead from the insulator.

    • A transducer is mounted on the boom to produce an electrical signal proportional to the angle the boom has moved in a horizontal plane. A resistance related to the boom length receives the output of the transducer and supplies a current proportional to L Cos .theta. where L is the boom length.
