    • Airtight compressible storage containers (e.g., pouches) having one-way valves in the form of respective collapsible channels that run along and adjacent to respective pouch side seals. Each collapsible channel comprises unsealed sections of web material that span the space between a respective side seal and a respective interior seal. Each collapsible channel communicates with a respective air inlet located in the interior volume of the pouch and a respective air outlet located on a periphery of the pouch. When the contents of the pouch are compressed by a user pushing down on pouch, air from the storage chamber containing the compressible contents can be forced into the air inlet, through the open channel and out the air outlet until the desired amount of air has been removed from the pouch.

    • A one-way valve allows air to be drawn from a collapsible, flexible, airtight bag using a vacuum source. When the vacuum source is removed, the one-way valve prevents air from re-entering the bag. The valve assembly comprises a valve base attached to a bag wall and having an opening, a cap base coupled to the valve base, a flapper held in place by the valve base and cap base, and a cap connected to the cap base by a living hinge. When the cap is snapped onto the cap base after bag evacuation, the cap maintains the flapper in a position so that the opening in the valve base stays closed, preventing the admission of ambient air into the evacuated bag.

    • A storage system comprising: an evacuable and reclosable bag comprising a wall made of a flexible material and a one-way valve attached to said wall of said bag; a container having walls made of a material less flexible than the flexible material; and an attachment device that attaches the bag to the container such that at least a portion of the bag resides within the container. To use this storage system, compressible articles are placed inside the evacuable bag. Then the bag is hermetically sealed and evacuated. During evacuation, the shape of the compressible articles inside the bag conform to the shape of the container interior volume. In one embodiment, when the bag with compressed articles is removed from the container, its shape facilitates stacking.
