    • Methods and apparatus are provided for issuing instructions to a satellite antenna configured to receive a transmission from any of a group of satellites and to provide a signal to a receiver. In accordance with one embodiment, the receiver is queried (e.g., by a control module, which in one embodiment is a device equipped with a microprocessor and memory storing instructions defining the query) to determine information relating to a channel selected by a user. Based on the information, a determination is made whether the antenna should receive a transmission from a satellite other than a currently selected satellite. If so, the antenna is instructed (e.g., by the control module) to locate the other satellite. In another embodiment, methods and apparatus are provided for use in systems having multiple receivers, including one master receiver coupled to the antenna and one or more other slave receivers which do not issue instructions to the antenna. In accordance with this embodiment, a determination is made whether a user of a slave receiver has selected a channel provided by a transmission from a satellite other than a currently selected satellite, and if so, the antenna is caused (e.g., by a control module coupled to the slave receiver) to locate the other satellite.

    • A method and apparatus for performing range finding and a unique heads-up display for use in such apparatus are provided. Range finding is performed by viewing an object of known height at the location to which a range determination is being made through a transparent digital display on which a reticle is provided. The reticle is preferably in segments with the user adding or substracting segments from the reticle until its height matches that of the sighted image. A processor is provided to which the known height of the object is inputted, either by the user or from storage, with the processor determining range from this known height and the number of segments in the reticle. The range is displayed on the transparent display, permitting a user to simultaneously view both the object and the range indication.

    • The present invention provides an improved single, light weight, compact integrated multi-antenna system for simultaneous reception and transmission of energy at multiple different frequencies without interfering with each other. The system includes an enclosure having a shield positioned at about its midpoint for secure placement of a first antenna on the top of the shield and second antenna on the bottom of the shield. The shield is fabricated and positioned to provide both a secure placement of the antennas and to block or attenuate the frequency signals of the first antenna to reach the second antenna and vice versa. The system further includes an interface coupled between the first and the second antenna to share data signals among each other.
