    • A high efficiency, high rate system for recovering and removing non-condensable gases from a halocarbon composition. A collection tank with an integral heat exchanger unit is submerged in a liquid heat transfer medium and coupled to the halocarbon composition. Refrigerant injected into the heat transfer medium cools the heat exchanger unit and collection tank allows the separation of gases from the liquid phase of the halocarbon composition. The gases contained within the liquid phase are separated from the halocarbon composition by reducing pressure in the vapor (ullage) space of the collection tank. This vapor stream mixture of released gases pass through a flow control orifice that further cools the vapor stream condensing more liquid phase halocarbon from the mixture. This additional liquid separates from the vapor phase mixture and collects into a liquid trap arrangement of coaxial and helical geometry. The nitrogen and other non-condensable gases are vented from the outer large chamber of the liquid trap arrangement and are accumulated to pressurize the outer chamber of the liquid trap arrangement with additional transfer gas, if required. This pressure transfers the liquid phase halocarbon collected in the liquid trap arrangement back into the collection tank and into a receiver external to the system.

    • The present invention relates to a system for recovering and purifying a halocarbon composition, particularly halon. Forming a part of the present system is a liquid heat exchange unit filled with a liquid heat transfer medium. A recovery tank is submerged in the heat transfer medium and is coupled to an impure halocarbon source. The liquid heat exchange unit cools the recovery tank and the impure halocarbon composition within the tank to a sufficient temperature to cause nitrogen gas to separate from the halocarbon composition and form a vapor within the top portion of the recovery tank. Thereafter, the recovery tank is vented and a mixture of separated nitrogen gas and halon vapor is directed through a vent stream having a carbon adsorber. As the separated gas moves through the carbon adsorber, organic halocarbon vapor is adsorbed and effectively removed from the nitrogen gas. Prior to the impure halocarbon composition reaching the recovery tank, the same is subjected to pretreatment and particularly to filtration for removing particulates, moisture, foreign oils and acids.

    • This invention relates to a kit for reinforcing door hinges and, more specifically, to a two-piece kit for strengthening door hinges that may have come loose. The kit comprises a two-piece hinge repair kit that is adapted for use with standard size doors and with standard size hinges. The first piece of the kit is a rectangular U-shaped bracket having an open side or face. This U-shaped bracket is adapted to fit through its open side around the edge of the door. The sides and roof of this U-shaped structure have apertures to be used as connecting holes for attachment to the door and hinge. The roof has a recessed cutout section containing the holes for alignment with the holes of a hinge. The cutout distance down from the top of the roof should approximate the thickness of one leaf of the hinge. Thus, when the hinge is attached to the U-shaped bracket and door, the top surface is level with the face of the bracket and flush with the face of the roof sides adjacent the cutout portion. The vertical sides of the U-shaped bracket extending down from the roof portion contain screw holes for attaching the U-shaped bracket to the side edge portion of a door. This U-shaped mounting bracket is merely slipped over the door with some of its roof apertures aligned with the existing screw holes so that no adjustment or further chipping away of the door edge is required.
