    • A data delivery system. Fragmentation in a communication path is suppressed to prevent increase of load imposed on network appliance due to the fragmentation occurring in the state where traffic is increased, while preventing increasing of load imposed on a receiver terminal due to necessity of reconstructing fragmented packet. When data including plural packets recorded internally of payload of an IP packet is delivered, MTU of communication path is checked to construct the packet(s) in the payload on the basis of the MTU value obtained. Assuming that the terminal moves among networks, a function for messaging the move of the terminal to a delivery server is imparted to the terminal for allowing the MTU of a new communication path to be searched upon generation of the message.

    • The present invention relates to a technology for satisfactorily realizing trick play in a video-on-demand system that transmits video contents to video receivers. For example, even when the interval between key frames which is coded in intra-frame coding is unequal and the data size of a key frame is not uniform, trick play can be achieved using the key frames within a permissible transmission bit rate. Herein, the transmission start time instant and transmission completion time instant of each key frame that should be transmitted are calculated. If the transmission completion time instant of a preceding key frame and the transmission start time instant of a succeeding key frame are incompatible with each other, the transmission of the succeeding key frame is canceled. If the above time instants are compatible, the succeeding key frame is transmitted at the transmission start time instant.

    • A multi-display configuration method and a multi-display adaptor are disclosed, in which the digital content stream distributed through a network is displayed on a large screen configured of a plurality of displays, and the network, to which a plurality of the displays may be connected, is automatically set while automatically grasping the relative positions of the displays. In a system making up a screen by connecting displays having a network interface, the relative positions of the displays are extracted from the display connection. The relative positions of the displays and the network address mapping information of the displays are held. The digital content stream transmitted through the network is rebuilt into the data for the desired display, and the rebuilt data is coded by a variable length coder. The coded data is configured as a network packet and transmitted or received through the network interface.
