摘要： Embodiments of the invention relate to correction of erroneous touch data on a touch sensor panel. Erroneous touch data may occur when a user is touching locations on the touch sensor panel but fails to be in good contact with another part of the device including the touch sensor panel. These erroneous readings may be statistically compensated for. A capacitance value that combines various external capacitances that may cause erroneous results can be calculated. Then, if necessary, received touch data can be modified to take into account the external capacitance. Accordingly, improved accuracy is provided for determining touch event(s) on a touch sensor panel.

The concurrent scan can include sensing an object proximate to the touch panel and sensing a negative pixel effect, based the object's grounding condition, at the touch panel, at the same time. As a result, sense signals indicative of the proximity of the object and coupling signals indicative of the negative pixel effect's magnitude can be captured concurrently. Because the negative pixel effect can cause errors or distortions in the sense signals, the coupling signals can be used to compensate the sense signals for the negative pixel effect.

The panel can be configured to increase a capacitive sense signal, indicative of a touching or hovering object, in order to compensate for an increase in negative capacitance when the object is poorly grounded. To perform the compensation, the panel can be configured to have split sense lines so as to increase the number of electric fringe fields forming the sense signal, thereby providing a sense signal that is substantially stronger than the negative capacitance signal. Each sense line can be split into two or more strips.

The display can have sense regions for sensing a touch or near touch on the display during the touch mode. These same regions can display graphics or data on the display during the display mode. During display mode, the data lines in the sense regions can be configured to couple to display circuitry in order to receive data signals from the circuitry for displaying. During touch mode, the data lines in the sense regions can be configured to couple to corresponding sense lines in the regions, which in turn can couple to touch circuitry, in order to transmit touch signals to the circuitry for sensing a touch or near touch. Alternatively, during touch mode, the data lines in the sense regions can be configured to couple to ground in order to transmit residual data signals to ground for discarding.

Both the positive and negative voltage lines may cross-under one or more sense regions. The negative phase voltage lines are able to counter act and reduce the static capacitance in the sense regions.

The change in voltage on these floating data lines can be increased when the application of voltage to the data line occurs after a toggling operation of the Vcom, i.e., when a voltage applied to the Vcom changes the voltage on the Vcom from one polarity to an opposite polarity. Various embodiments of the present disclosure serve to eliminate or reduce the effects of Vcom voltage toggling on data line voltages by applying a voltage (e.g., a fixed voltage) to the data lines while the voltage on Vcom toggles.
