摘要： A communication session between a node seeking network access and a NAS (Network Access Server) is established by having only few exchanges of messages. Upon detecting a physical link between the node and the NAS, the NAS immediately sends an authentication request message to the node. In response, the node sends a request message which includes all parameters options, in addition to responding to the authentication request message, for link configuration and network access control. The NAS then picks and chooses the parameter options and sends back the selected options in a reply message to the node. If the selected options in the reply message meet a threshold, the node straightforwardly transmits user data for network access via the NAS.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for compression of headers in broadcasting BCMCS services in a wireless communication system are described. Techniques used in BCMCS systems without feedback include sending static context information during BCMCS service initialization for use in a decompressor in a mobile station. Techniques used in BCMCS systems with feedback include receiving feedback from distributed mobile station decompressors and adjusting the broadcasting compressor in response to the feedback. Techniques that reduce the number of operating states in both the compressor and the decompressor are described. Techniques to classify flows so that a reduced number of contexts are used to compress/decompress session packet headers in a push-to-talk service are described.

摘要： A method and apparatus for a wireless communication system having a plurality of terminals is provided. At least one quality requirement defining a minimum quality of communication service threshold for receiving information by at least one terminal over a communication channel is determined. At least one quality parameter of the communication channel is also determined, where the quality parameter defines a degree of quality in which communication is received by the terminal over the communication channel. The quality parameter is compared to the quality requirement, and the terminal is prevented from tuning to the communication channel providing that the quality parameter is lower than the quality requirement. In another embodiment, the at least one quality requirement is associated with a service threshold indicator (STI) value, and the STI value is communicated to the terminal for comparison of the quality requirement to the quality parameter.

A mobile station generates a resource request for a communication service, where the resource request includes an identifier uniquely identifying a type of communication service. A packet data serving node receives the resource request for the communication service and selects a policy control entity to process the resource request. In one embodiment, the serving network provides information to the target network sufficient to establish the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connections for handoff. In an alternate embodiment, the serving network and the target network do not share capabilities with respect to concurrent multiple service instances. When the serving network knows the status of the target network, the serving network takes responsibility for the handoff.

摘要： In a communication session in which data flows with encrypted data packets pass through a monitoring intermediary for data traffic control. The encrypted data packets include SPIs (Secured Parameter Indexes) which are used to identify SAs (Security Associations) for data decryption. During the initial signaling process for the communication session, the nodes seeking the communication session include the SPIs in the signaling messages and send the signaling messages through the monitoring intermediary which in turn matches the SPIs of the signaling messages with the corresponding SPIs extracted from the data packets. In enforcing data traffic control, the monitoring intermediary allows data flows to pass through if comparison matches in the SPIs are found. Otherwise, the data flows are rejected.

摘要： In a communications system where a mobile node seeks to establish contact with a server node within or outside the home network of the mobile node by first providing the general location information and the server type of the server node to a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server. The DHCP server then matches the provided information with its record in storage to arrive at an IP (Internet Protocol) address of the sought server node. The DHCP server then sends the IP address to the mobile node, thereby allowing the mobile node to directly access the server node.
