    • Various principles for maintaining a shared repository of authorization scanning results, which may be populated with results of authorization scans of particular files (and other content units) as well as a signature for those particular files. When a particular file is to be scanned by a client computing device to determine whether it contains unauthorized software, a signature for the file may be calculated and provided to the shared repository. If the repository has a result for that file—as indicated by a signature for the file being present in the repository—the result in the repository may be provided to the client computing device that issued the query, and the client computing device may accept the answer in the shared repository. If the result is not in the repository (i.e., the file has not been scanned), then the file may be scanned, and a result may be placed in the repository.

    • Disclosed are a system, device and/or an apparatus of modular hanging lasers to enable real-time control in a distribution center. In one embodiment, a laser assembly, includes a first support member having a curved upper hook, a second support member having the curved upper hook, and a printed circuit board in between the first support member and the second support member: (1) that is physically coupled with the first support member at a first rotation point of the printed circuit board, and which is physically coupled with the second support member at a second rotation point of the printed circuit board. The laser assembly is attached to a first wire of a distribution center above at least one row of the distribution center having at least one of a shelving, an inventory, and storage compartments along at least one row.

    • A singulating and counting device includes a bulk housing for storing a plurality of substantially identical articles, an exit channel, and in the exit channel, forwardly- and rearwardly-directed jet apertures, each of which is fluidly connected to a positive pressure source. A forwardly-directed jet generated by the positive pressure source through the forward jet aperture can accelerate singulated articles in the exit channel, thereby increasing the interval between individual articles and rendering them more easily and accurately counted. A rearwardly-directed jet generated by the positive pressure source through the rearwardly-directed jet aperture can cause articles in the exit channel to return to the housing. A controller operatively connected with the pressure source(s) selectively controls the application of positive pressure to the aforementioned apertures to induce or halt singulation of the articles; the controller may be operatively associated with a sensor that detects and counts articles passing through the exit channel.
