    • A fire extinguisher including a gas cylinder filled with an extinguishing gas and installed in a cylindrical main casing that has a nozzle head at one end and a spring-loaded bottom cover at another end. The gas cylinder is retained in the main casing by way of a locking pin that extends radially and engages an actuation hole of the main casing; and when the locking pin is manually disengaged from the actuation hole, the gas cylinder is rapidly moved by an expanding spring of the bottom cover in the direction of the axis of the main casing, so that the sealing plate of the gas cylinder is ruptured by a firing pin of the nozzle head, allowing the gas to jet out of the gas cylinder so as to put out a fire. The locking pin can be automatically disengaged from the actuation hole by the use of a temperature sensor.

    • In order to carry out a two-stage fire extinguishing operation including a cooling fire extinguishing operation and an oxygen deficiency fire extinguishing operation using a fire extinguishing gas, a cylinder filled with a liquefied gas of carbon dioxide is used, and a firing pin unit for breaking a seal member of the cylinder, a retainer for maintaining the firing pin unit in a non-opereted state and a retainer operating device for automatically operating the retainer on the basis of stored temperature data are provided. The retainer is fixed at a head portion thereof by a bolt screwed to the upper surface region of a fixing member, and leg portions of the retainer are fitted in an upper recess in a shaft to a lower end portion of which a pin is fixed. The retainer operating device consists of a retainer turning member provided with projections on one end portion thereof. These projections are positioned on the inner side of the two leg portions of the retainer, and the retainer operating device is turned when a spring of a shape memory metal contracts at a predetermined temperature, to cause the projections to open the leg portions of the retainer, and the pin to be driven.

    • The extinguishing apparatus of this invention comprises a cartridge casing provided with a jet nozzle device, a flexible extinguishing liquid cartridge which is coupled in plug-in manner to the jet nozzle device by inserting from the open end of the cartridge casing into the interior of the casing, a cap for closing the open end of the casing, a joint for coupling the interior and exterior of the cartridge casing, and a discharge unit for coupling by plug-in manner to the joint. The cartridge is made possigle to discharge the extinguishing material, when it is compressed by a force from the outside, and the discharge unit feeds incombustible high pressure gas into the cartridge casing either automatically when the temperature of environment is reached over a predetermined temperature, or by handling manually. Aaccording to this, the cartridge is compressed, the extinguishing material discharged from the cartridge is jetted from the jet nozzle device.

An emptied cylinder is discharged by pulling a knob, and the cylinders in the magazine are sent sequentially to the interior of an extractor in the receiver barrel, the seal member on the head portion of the cylinder in the extractor being broken by a firing pin by a triggering operation, whereby the fire extinguishing gas is ejected from the cylinder.

    • A lighting apparatus is provided which comprises a color disc capable of transmitting light therethrough and arranged within a housing having an opening. The color disc has a planar surface parallel to the opening, and a large number of subdivided sections defined on the planar surface. The subdivided sections are individually colored in one of a plurality of colors such that, when viewed as a whole, the planar surface has a plurality of identical coloration patterns each consisting of the subdivided sections of the same color and that any adjacent ones of the coloration patterns are different in color from each other. A shutter disc is arranged between the color disc and the opening and has a large number of windows for permitting only those subdivided sections forming one of the coloration patterns to be exposed to the outside of the housing when the shutter disc is at a predetermined rotational angle position. The lighting apparatus further comprises a motor for rotating the shutter disc, and an illuminating bulb arranged at the opening for radiating the light from the opening to the outside of the housing.
