摘要： The connector system provides two identical hermaphroditic housings, which accomplish a reliable connection of standard optical fiber connectors without the use of an adaptor. The connector system includes a first housing mounted to a first printed wiring board and a second housing mounted to a second printed wiring board. Each housing supports an optical fiber connector therein. Each housing includes an inner member and an outer member. Springs are provided between the inner and outer members to provide biasing of the housings in the mating direction of the optical connectors.

A guide or alignment pin inserted through the guide hole forms a locational or sliding fit with the guide hole in the first region and a loose fit in the second region, allowing the ferrule to rock through the angle formed by the dimension of the second region. Rocking the ferrule through this angle closes the lossy air gap formed by end-face tilt resulting from imperfect polishing of the face of the ferrule and decreases insertion loss.

摘要： A fiber optic connector assembly includes an outer connector housing defining an optic axis in a through passage. A first key is disposed in the passage at a given position angularly about the axis. An inner optical fiber plug terminates an optical fiber and is disposed in the passage and includes a second key movably positionable about the periphery of the plug to different selected positions of rotational adjustment for the plug. The second key is fixable at any selected position on the plug and is lockable with the first key on the housing to fix the angular position of the plug relative to the housing and, thereby, fix the rotational position of the optical fiber angularly of the optic axis.

The internal surface comprises at least a one alignment structure to engage and thereby maintain one or more optical elements in horizontal and vertical alignment. A clip having at least one retention mechanism engages complementary features on the housing to thereby retain the clip in fixed alignment with the housing. The clip also comprises at least one resilient member to bias the at least one optical element into mating engagement with the one or more alignment structures. Where the housing and clip are fabricated from electrically conductive materials, the clip may comprise one or more corresponding continuity pins to be received in continuity slots of the housing. Features of the clip to accommodate either surface mounting or through-hole mounting configurations are provided.

摘要： A sealed optical fiber connector assembly includes a connector housing that is uniquely configured to cooperate with a cable crimp tail and one or more terminal fiber optic connectors. The connector housing has a first opening for securely retaining the terminal fiber optic connectors. An interior passage connects the first opening to a second opening at the housing's other end. The interior passage allows the crimp tail to pass through the housing. The second opening forms a shoulder so that the crimp tail, after being pushed through the first opening and passage, can be rotated and seated against the shoulder. A cable seal securely holds the crimp tail against the shoulder. This provides a sealed and substantially stronger cable attachment. The connector housing is part of removable optical connector that provides environmental sealing when mated to a corresponding adapter.
