摘要： Disclosed is an ink tank coupling method for an ink jet recording apparatus including a recording head, an ink supply needle, and a moving unit for moving the ink supply needle to a predetermined position, the recording apparatus being able to detachably mount an ink tank containing ink supplied to the recording head. The method includes a step of holding and fixing the ink tank to a predetermined position by releasing a movement preventing unit which prevents movement of the ink supply needle caused by the moving unit, and pressing the ink tank to abut a reference surface with an operation of attaching the ink tank to the recording apparatus, and a step of inserting the ink supply needle to the predetermined position in the ink tank by the moving unit after the holding and fixing step. Disclosed also is an ink jet recording apparatus and an ink tank adapted for carrying out the ink tank coupling method with a relatively simple construction and with higher reliability of the coupling, while allowing users to recognize the proper coupling of the ink tank.

摘要： An ink tank comprises a housing detachably mountable on a liquid jet recording apparatus, which is capable of retaining liquid directly in the interior thereof, a supply portion for supplying liquid retained in the housing to the recording apparatus and a communication portion with the air outside for communicating the interior of the housing with the air outside. For this ink tank, the supply portion and the communication portion with the air outside are integrally formed, and at the same time, a plate member is provided to make the interior of the housing a closed space by joining the plate member to the housing, and then, erroneous installation prevention portions are arranged for the plate member to prevent the installation on the position other than specifically designated for the liquid jet recording apparatus. With the structure thus arranged, the ink tank makes it possible to easily enhance the dimensional precision of the coupling portion with the recording apparatus, and the erroneous installation prevention portions as well. Thus, without depending on the precision of an ink tank as a whole, it is possible to enhance the reliability of the installation on or coupling with the recording apparatus.

摘要： An ink jet recording head has a plurality of discharge energy generating devices for discharging recording liquid, while being provided with a recording element base plate arranged on the face opposite to the surface where the devices are arranged, having a plurality of recording liquid supply ports for supplying recording liquid to the devices, as well as with a supporting member that holds and fixes the recording element base plate. For the supporting member, a plurality of recording liquid supply paths are arranged to supply recording liquid to each of the supply ports of the recording element base plate, respectively, and then, the flow path width of each supply flow path is formed to be smaller than the opening width of inlet portion of each supply port. Further, the steps to be created between the supply flow path and the supply port is buried by the bonding agent forced out from the bonding face of the recording element base plate and the supporting member. With the structure thus arranged, the ink jet recording head is capable of optimizing the discharge characteristics of recording liquid and the supply characteristics thereof, as well as the positioning precision of a recording element base plate to a supporting member.

For the supporting member, a plurality of recording liquid supply paths are arranged to supply recording liquid to the supply ports of the recording element base plate, respectively, and the width of the supply paths is formed to be smaller than the opening width of the inlet portions of the supply ports. Further, stepped portions created between the respective supply paths and supply ports are buried by a bonding agent forced out from the bonding face of the recording element base plate and the supporting member.
