    • A heat-sensitive recording sheet superior in color formation and sticking resistance and excellent in storage stabilities such as plasticizer resistance and wet-rub resistance and printability which comprises a support and, provided thereon, a heat-sensitive recording layer and a protective layer is provided by using as a main component of the protective layer in the case of the protective layer comprising one layer a latex having a softening point of 200.degree.-350.degree. C. obtained by polymerizing mainly a specific hydrophobic vinyl monomer in the presence of a polymeric latex having a glass transition temperature of 50.degree. C. or lower and as a main component of the protective layer in the case of the protective layer comprising two or more layers a latex having a softening point of 150.degree.-260.degree. C. in the inner layer(s) and preferably, using in the outermost protective layer said specific latex having a softening point of 200.degree.-350.degree. C. used in the protective layer comprising one layer. Furthermore, the heat-sensitive recording layer may optionally contain 2,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone and preferably a hindered phenol.

    • Provided are methods and compositions for maintaining the viability of photoreceptor cells following retinal detachment. The viability of photoreceptor cells can be preserved by administering a neuroprotective agent, for example, a substance capable of suppressing endogenous MCP-1, a MCP-1 antagonist, a substance capable of suppressing endogenous TNF-alpha, a TNF-alpha antagonist, a substance capable of suppressing endogenous IL-1 beta, an IL-1 beta antagonist, a substance capable of inducing endogenous bFGF, exogenous bFGF, a bFGF mimetic, and combinations thereof, to a mammal having an eye with retinal detachment. The neuroprotective agent maintains the viability of the photoreceptor cells until such time that the retina becomes reattached to the underlying retinal pigment epithelium and choroid. The treatment minimizes the loss of vision, which otherwise may occur as a result of retinal detachment.

    • An electrophotographic process includes performing removal of electricity or pre-charging by direct current corona discharge and main charging by direct current corona discharge of a polarity reverse to the polarity for removal of electric charge or pre-charging on an organic photoconductive photosensitive layer chargeable at both the positive and negative polarities. Then is performed imagewise exposure, development with a toner and transfer of the toner image. Such operations are repeated to form plural images. Main charging is carried out with an applied current such that the photosensitive layer surface potential is saturated at 500 to 700 volts (absolute value) and removal of electric charge or pre-charging is carried out with at an applied current lower than the saturation injected current value and corresponding to 40 to 90% thereof.
