摘要： In a data communication apparatus, when performing a calling operation, an image transmission speed is assigned using a CCITT nonstandard reception command NSS after transmitting a dial signal, and the NSS is repeatedly transmitted at a predetermined time interval. Upon reception of a reception-preparation-confirming signal transmitted from an apparatus of a communication partner, a command, an identification signal and image data are transmitted at the image transmission speed based on information relating to the communication partner's apparatus which has been stored, so that the time required for communication procedures is shortened.

摘要： When a plurality of pages of image data are combined into one page of image data for transmission, the direct combination of the image data having different resolutions and the resulting recording of the image data on one record sheet while the image is partially expanded or reduced are prevented. In combining two pages of image data into one page of image data for transmission within a range in which the number of read lines of read image data does not exceed the number of available lines for recording per page at a transmission destination terminal, if the read resolutions of both image data are equal, the two pages of image data are combined into one page of image data for transmission, and if the read resolutions are different, the combination is not conducted and the image data of the respective pages are transmitted as the independent pages of image data. A facsimile apparatus minimizes the possibility of transmission disable due to a full state of a memory when a plurality of pages of image data having short sub-scan lengths stored in the memory are transmitted. The image data acquired by reading a document sheet by a contact sensor 13 is compression-coded by an encoder 103 of a read/write codec device 10 and it is stored in an image memory 6. After a plurality of pages of image data having short sub-scan lengths have been stored in the image memory 6, the image data are combined into one page of image data on a communication protocol and it is transmitted to a transmission destination apparatus through a modem 17 and a network control unit 18. When it is detected that a remaining capacity of the image memory 6 is small, the combination transmission of the image data is canceled and the image data stored in the image memory 6 is immediately read and transmitted.

In case of storing image data of plural pages of original read by a contact sensor in an image memory and collectively transmitting the image data of successive plural pages, stored in the image memory, as one page, judging from the recordable number of lines at the receiving side, a CPU causes a display unit to display both the number of actually transmitted page number and the number of read page included in the transmitted pages.

The number of input lines for each page is recognized for image data of a plurality of pages input and stored in the memory. When transmitting the stored image data of the plurality of pages, the number of recordable lines per page of a recording sheet used in a communication partner's terminal is recognized, and image data for one page obtained by combining image data of a plurality of consecutive pages is transmitted. The reception side combines a maximum number of image data for a plurality of pages recordable on a single recording sheet, and transmits the obtained image data as image data for one page. Image data of different files for the same communication partner are also combined in the above-described manner.

摘要： A facsimile section receives and decodes data transmitted through a communication line, converts the received data into dot image data line by line, and further performs resolution conversion of the data using a resolution converter. The data subjected to the resolution conversion is transferred to a printer section through a Centronics interface. When data of an entire line is all white, a white-skip command is transferred for that line. The printer section performs horizontal/vertical conversion of the transferred dot image data and data corresponding to the transferred white-skip command using a horizontal/-vertical converter, the converted data being stored in a scan buffer. When the scan buffer is full of the data for one scan, a recording head is driven to record an image. In an image communicating apparatus comprising the facsimile section and the printer section, the load of the control unit of the facsimile section can be diminished, and the time required for the recording can be reduced, with the above arrangement.
