    • A card connector is configured for receiving a generally rectangular card therein. The card has contact pads and generally parallel first and second sides with a cut-away portion formed in the first side in proximity to a front end of the card. The cut-away portion includes a short length extending from the front end generally parallel to the first side, and a tapered shoulder part extending from the short length to the first side. The connector includes an insulative housing with first and second spaced apart sidewalls that define a cavity therein for receiving the card in an insertion direction. A tapered surface is provided adjacent the first sidewall to guide an improperly inserted card at an angle to the insertion direction and a second sidewall recess is formed in the second sidewall to permit entrance of a corner part of such improperly inserted card. A plurality of electrically conductive terminals are mounted in the housing and configured to engage the contact pads of the card upon proper insertion of the card into the housing. A metal shell is also mounted on the housing.

    • A memory card connector includes an interior cavity for receiving a memory card. An insulating housing has a rear terminal-mounting section and at least one longitudinal side wall section extending forwardly from one end of the rear section. A metal shell covers at least a portion of the insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the longitudinal side wall section of the housing An engaging structure includes an engaging projection on one of the cover plate of the metal shell or the top surface of the side wall section of the housing extending into an engaging opening in the other of the cover plate or top surface to prevent relative movement therebetween in a plane generally parallel to the cover plate and top surface. A slight clearance is provided between the engaging projection and the engaging opening to avoid creating residual stresses in the housing.

    • A card connector is disclosed. The card connector has a configuration such that a switch accommodation space accommodating therein a detection switch which is arranged along an inner wall surface of a card accommodation space is covered by a movable cover member that blocks at least a space between the card accommodation space and the switch accommodation space. As a result, it is possible to reliably prevent foreign material from adhering onto a detection switch and enable the detection switch to detect a card accurately. Moreover, the card connector can be produced by a simple assembling process to have a simple and small structure at a low cost with high reliability thereof.

    • A memory card connector has an interior cavity into which a memory card is inserted to a temporary retained position and then to a fully inserted position. The connector includes a n insulating housing having a rear terminal-mounting section at a rear of the cavity. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the terminal-mounting section and have contact portions for engaging contacts on the memory card. A slider is movably mounted on the housing and is engageable with the memory card for movement therewith. The slider is slidable along a side wall of the housing. The slider has a projection engageable in a recess in a side of the memory card. A sheet metal shell covers at least a portion of he insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the cavity. A side wall plate depends from the cover plate and overlies at least a portion of the side wall of the housing. A spring structure is stamped and formed out of an opening in the side wall plate and is engageable with the slider to bias the projection of the slider into the recess in the memory card. The spring structure is integral with the side wall plate at opposite edges of the opening.

    • A memory card connector includes a front receptacle area communicating with an interior cavity for receiving a memory card.     • A card connector has a housing with a base and a side rail extending from the base to define a card-insertion cavity. A push-push style card locking and ejection mechanism retains the card in the card-insertion cavity upon a first push and which ejects an inserted card upon a second push. The slide member includes a slide surface that slides along a guide surface of the side rail. A damping material is interposed between the slide member slide surface and the guide rail guide surface for retarding movement of the slide member on the side rail in response to an ejection force from the biasing member.

    • A memory card connector includes an insulative housing having a rear terminal-mounting section which mounts a plurality of terminals (36a) having contact portions for engaging appropriate contacts on a normal size memory card (40). A metal shell is mounted on the housing and combines therewith to define an interior card-receiving cavity. The cavity has a front insertion opening for receiving the memory card. A card restricting member (60) extends into the cavity at a location between the insertion opening and the contact portions of the terminals. The card restricting member is configured such that the normal size memory card engages the restricting member and biases the restricting member out of the path of insertion of the normal size memory card into the cavity. The card restricting member is located to engage a compact size memory card and prevent the compact size memory card from reaching the contact portions of the terminals.
