    • PURPOSE:To automate passing of the strip by equipping up and down, horizontally and oppositely a rubber lining roll and a hard roll, forming a strip guide path by engaging across an endless belts which are brought into contact with both rolls and making the dimensions and direction of inlet and outlet angles of the guide path freely adjustable. CONSTITUTION:A 1st roll 3 which soft elastic material is lined on that outer periphery and a 2nd roll 4 which is made of the hard roll are equipped up and down, horizontally and oppositely so that rolling reduction can be done. The endless belts 2a, 2b which are respectively brought into contact with the rolling reduction base line part of the 1st and 2nd rolls 3, 4 at an acute winding central angle are engaged across. The strip guide path is formed between the 1st and 2nd rolls 3, 4 by forming V-like inlet side and outlet side with the belts 2a, 2b. The dimensions and direction of the entering angle on the inlet side and delivery angle on the outlet side of the guide path are made to be freely adjustable. In this way, a leveler which has adequate leveling capacity for various conditions of the strip can be provided.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent pickup by removal of scale without deteriorating its appearance in a continuous annealing stage for a steel strip by subjecting the steel strip to a pretreatment including specified pickling prior to annealing in said stage. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip prior to continuous annealing is subjected to pickling with hydrochloric acid of 5-15wt% acid concn. kept at 20-60 deg.C or with sulfuric acid of 5-10wt% acid concn. kept at 20-40 deg.C. Pickup is prevented by the removal of scale, etc. from the surface of the steel strip and the pickling in a specified range wherein roughening of the base iron surface is averted. The influence of the difference in pickling condition on the cleaning performance and appearance of the steel strip is expressed by the ordinate (the content of oxygen in the total oxide in the surface of the steel strip) shown in the figure. The figure reveals that as the value at the ordinate is smaller the oxide such as scale or the like is correspondingly removed. The content of oxygen, 70-80ppm, prior to the pickling is decreased by the pickling to 10-30ppm.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent dew condensation of steel strip coils inexpensively and efficiently by placing these coils horizontally in such a way as to provide a required spacing from a floor surface, and heating the coil surfaces indirectly by means of steam feed pipes installed in the spacing. CONSTITUTION:For example, two pieces of sleepers 2 are disposed in parallel on a floor surface 1, and a required number of steel strip coils 3 are placed horizontally across these two sleepers 2. All the coils 3 are wedged 4 so as not to roll on the sleepers 2. A required number of steam feed pipes 5 are installed in the spacing between the floor surface and the bottom circumferential surface of the coils 3, and steam is supplied into these pipes 5 to heat the air between the surface 1 and the bottom circumferential surfaces of the coils 3 indirectly. The heated air ascends along the outside circumferential surfaces and both end faces of the coils 3, thereby elevating the temp. of the coils 3 and enclosing the coils 3. The surface temp. of the coils 3 is kept at about 17 deg.C by this and the condensation of dew is prevented.
