摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent inundation into a tunnel boring machine by improving a sealing property in the tunnel boring machine capable of widening a tunnel. SOLUTION: Sub-excavator bodies 13 and 14 are fitted to the sides of a main excavator body 11 so as to be movable sideward by widening jacks 17 and 18, and side seals 31 and 32 are installed to the side parts of the sub- excavator bodies 13 and 14, respectively to seal the fitting parts with the main excavator body 11. A main tail seal 33 and sub-tail seals 34 and 35 laid along the circumferential direction are installed to the rear ends of the main excavator body 11 and the sub-excavator bodies 13 and 14, respectively, and the rear ends of the side seals 31 and 32 are overlapped with the end parts of the sub-tail seals 34 and 35 by a prescribed length L and closely fitted thereto.
