摘要： An apparatus for automatically transferring tools between a magazine and a machine tool is arranged to afford movement of a transfer member in three different directions. The tool transfer member is secured to a support frame and is movable in an upward and downward direction. The support frame is movably attached to a carriage which, in turn, is movable along a beam extending between the magazine and the machine tool. The support frame is movable perpendicularly to the vertical plane through which the carriage travels along the beam.

An automatic tool changing mechanism comprises a horizontal guide beam 10 along which a carriage 8 moves between a tool magazine 2 and a spindle 3 of a machine tool. Suspended from the carriage is a frame support 6 which is movable horizontally perpendicular to the beam 10 by means of an hydraulic jack 7, 14 and guides 9. On the frame support 6 are two transfer members 5A and 5B which are movable vertically by means of hydraulic jacks 17, 18. Each transfer member has tool gripping means 4A, 4B actuated hydraulically to open, and spring closed. The carriage 8 is moved by an hydraulic motor 13, a pinion 11 and rack 12.

This post-worked work is transported to the conveyor 19 side part for a stock by the transfer conveyors 11, 12 again and moved onto the stocking conveyor 19 by the transfer means. By repeating this process the automatic working of the work is continuously performed in succession. Now, the stocking conveyor 19 does not interfere with the adaptive installation space of the work machine group 16 because of the stocking conveyor 19 being provided between the plural transfer conveyors 11, 12 arranged in a line.

CONSTITUTION:When tools T are exchanged to the main spindle 4 of a machine main body, a support 12 is moved rightward to a given position by the extending action of a hydraulic cylinder 18. Three tools T in the right side long side part of a tool magazine 7 are made tool-exchangeable to the main spindle 4 in the condition. That is, the tools T on the rising magazine 7 are fitted to the main spindle 4 with the main spindle 4 itself by the movement of the X, Y, and Z axes of a macine. on the other hand, when three tools T in the left side long side part of the tool magazine 7 is exchanged, it is sufficient to divide a plate 8 by 180 deg. to reverse it left and right by moving a hook 16 and turning a pinion 13 and a shaft 10 by the extending action of a hydraulic cylinder 14. This can exchange the three tools T in the same way.

Hereafter, the magazine 3 together with the pallet 4 are transported up to a prescribed position in the proximity of a machining center 1d with an automatic transport conveyor 2, and taken in the machining center 1d.
